The U.S. has now recorded more than 3 million new cases of COVID-19 in the month of November alone, according to a database kept by Johns Hopkins University.According to Johns Hopkins, the U.S. has recorded at least 3.1 million cases of COVID-19 since Nov. 1 — more than 25% of all the cases the country has seen since the pandemic began.The spike in cases has led to a concerning jump in virus-related hospitalizations across the country. Since Oct. 31, the 7-day average of daily deaths has increase from 810 to 1,470. The current rate of deaths per day hasn't been seen in the U.S. since mid-May. The concerning spike occurs as much of the country sees the weather turn colder ahead of winter months, and comes as Americans prepare to celebrate the holiday season — something health officials warn could further facilitate the spread of the virus. The CDC has recommended that Americans not travel to celebrate Thanksgiving with loved ones and recommends against hosting large gatherings this year.It also comes as several drug companies, including AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer have all reported encouraging results from their COVID-19 vaccine trials. The University of San Diego's head men's basketball coach Lamont Smith was arrested Sunday in the Bay Area and is facing three domestic violence charges, according to public records released by the San Francisco Sheriff's Department.Allen Lamont Smith, 42, was arrested at Oakland International Airport prior to the USD basketball team's flight back to San Diego following a 64-61 win over the University of San Francisco in last night's regular season finale.Officers were dispatched to the team hotel near Union Square late last night on reports of a domestic violence disturbance.The victim told police she was intimately involved with Smith. She was taken to the hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries.USD released a statement to Scripps station KGTV in San Diego, stating "We are aware of the report of allegations related to Lamont Smith. The US Secret Service is investigating the vandalism of a sign at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.The West Palm Beach Sheriff's Office told the White House press pool that the Secret Service is looking into red paint that was splattered on the sign outside of the entrance of the club. Crews were spotted cleaning the sign early Sunday morning.A spokesman for the Secret Service said they are "aware of the incident."West Palm Beach is a frequent getaway for President Donald Trump and his family. The Week 12 game between the Baltimore Ravens and the Pittsburgh Steelers has now been moved to Wednesday, the National Football League announced on Monday.The league said the game will be played at 3:40 p.m. ET Wednesday on NBC.This is the third time this game has been moved.It was originally scheduled to be played on Thanksgiving night but was moved to Sunday due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the Ravens.It was then moved from Sunday to Tuesday, and now will be played Wednesday. The two children who were rescued from an RV after an hours-long chase ended in Kern County, California have been reunited with their mother. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office posted pictures on Twitter at about 2 a.m. Wednesday, showing the children with their mom at an office.
