LA MESA, Calif. (KGTV) -- La Mesa Police are warning people who own Ford Rangers about a string of recent burglaries. According to the department, the trucks are being targeted for burglary. Since the beginning of the year, eight of the trucks have been targeted by car prowlers - an unusually high number. Detectives say there are no patterns when it comes to how the the thieves are breaking in or what they’re taking.Police advise people who own the vehicles to remove any valuables. (KGTV) — Police arrested one person and rearrested another person this week in connection with looting in La Mesa following police protests last month.Both arrests were made without incident and for burglary during an emergency on May 30 during rioting in the East County city, according to La Mesa Police:On June 10, 26-year-old Helen Tewolde was arrested on suspicion of looting Sally’s Beauty Supply on May 30. An anonymous tip was submitted to police after video that appeared to show Tewolde at the scene looting appeared on social media, LMPD said.On June 11, 25-year-old Rey Estrada-Silva was arrested on suspicion of looting the Verizon store and Target in Grossmont Shopping Center on May 30. Estrada-Silva was previously arrested last week on suspicion on looting Play It Again Sports and was out on bail during Thursday's arrest, LMPD said.As night set on May 30, protests outside LMPD's headquarters turned chaotic, after vandals set fires to numerous buildings and vehicles. LAKESIDE, Calif. (KGTV) -- Nearly 200 people turned out for a vigil in Lakeside honoring two teenagers killed in a car accident last weekend. Isaac Culkin and Justin Kyte were killed on Saturday, Jan. 11 when the car they were riding in crashed into a tree. Two others in the car suffered moderate injuries, but survived. Those closest to the boys gathered at the scene of the crash for a candlelight vigil, a moment of silence and prayer. The teens' closest friends remembered them as hardworking, funny boys who loved to have fun offroading the desert. CHP says Kyte was behind the wheel when he lost control of the car and hit a tree on Willow Road. Culkin was in the passenger seat. CHP says speed was a factor, but it is unclear if drugs or alcohol were involved. Services for Culkin are scheduled Thursday, January 23rd. Information on Kyte's services have not been made public. (KGTV) - Target representatives were on UC San Diego's campus this week talking to students about what they would like at an on-campus store.The company already has at least a dozen small-format stores on college campuses, including USC, UC Irvine, and UC Berkeley. Target says the stores cater to student's unique needs, providing food, apparel, dorm decor and essentials like toothpaste and body wash. While discussions are underway there is no concrete plan for Target to set up shop at UCSD. 530

LA MESA (KGTV) -- A businessman attacked a group of reporters on a La Mesa sidewalk. It all started with reports of lewd acts outside his business.La Mesa Police Department investigators are looking into harassment claims after a disturbing video captured outside a local business circulated online. A snap shot from that video appears to show a man and a woman outside Peter's Men Apparel, a local men's clothing retailer on La Mesa Blvd. over the weekend.The man in the video appears to have his hands up a woman's shirt.REPORT: La Mesa Police looking into harassment claims at local businessPolice said they've received at least two crime reports — one for battery and one for lewd act in public — in regards to separate incidents at the store on Saturday, Jan. 18.News crews returned to area near where the incident occurred to talk with the owner at Peter's Men Apparel. A man outside of the store started assaulting a photographer and then began hitting another reporter, which resulted in a brief fight.Video from the attack shows the man cursing at everyone, attacking a photographer, and slapping a phone out of reporter's hand before walking into the store.La Mesa police officers responded to the scene and are working with the reporters to gather information about the attack.The crews that were assaulted will be pressing charges.As for the incidents over the weekend, police haven't named the suspect. La Mesa investigators have not identified the man in the video.10News reporter Mimi Elkalla spoke with the owner of Peter's Men Apparel, Peter Carzis, on Monday and he seemed to laugh off the situation regarding the lewd video. He said he knew it was inappropriate, but didn't see what the big deal was and claimed the woman came onto him.Police were also looking into reports that the owner spit on a man as he was walking down La Mesa Blvd with his wife on Saturday.
