Many collecting unemployment are starting to get concerned. For most people, the extra 0 a week in federal pandemic benefits will run out in just four weeks, on either July 25 or 26.Millions of unemployed Americans have been kept afloat by that extra 0 a week, which supplements 0 or 0 in state benefits. But some people still waiting for their first check worry they will never see a dime.Ashley Duncan was laid off from her job assisting disabled children when the pandemic began. Worse, her application for unemployment benefits was rejected because it did not meet the income threshold."They said I made insufficient funds last year, " she said, even though she worked in two different states and said half her income was not counted as a result.Trying to explain her unique situation to a human proved impossible."I waited seven hours on the phone, and then they hung up on me," she said. Now Duncan worries she may miss the 0 a week from the federal CARES Act before she straightens our her claim and starts getting unemployment.Mely Positiva, who paints houses for a living, has also lost work this spring and could use some extra federal benefits."We have a family to support, and for the last three months, it was very hard," Positiva said. What could replace the 0 bonus paymentMarketwatch.com recently listed three proposals on the table to replace the ending federal benefits. Some Democrats have proposed the "HEROES Act," a bill that would extend the 0 a week through year's end.A second proposal would continue the 0 payments until each state ends its pandemic emergency — so the ending date would vary.A third proposal is a 0 a week bonus if those unemployed return to work. Supporters say only that proposal gives workers an incentive to get back on the job.The latest proposal is to continue the federal benefits but at a reduced level.Duncan wants to work, but also wants her CARES Act benefits that she for which she believes she is qualified."Just enough to make me be able to pay rent and pay for schooling," she said.It appears Congress will approve some sort of extended benefits package since millions remain out of work. But how much they approve will be a hot topic of debate. As always, don't waste your money.----------------------------Don't Waste Your Money" is a registered trademark of Scripps Media, Inc. Meghan Markle has chosen a modest white bridal gown designed by Givenchy's Clare Waight Keller for her wedding to Britain's Prince Harry at St George's Chapel in Windsor.GALLERY:?See photos of Meghan Markle's stunning wedding dressBritish Waight Keller is the first female artistic director of the French fashion house, and is a fitting choice for Markle, who identifies as a feminist. The details and designer of the wedding dress had been a closely guarded secret for months. The long-sleeved haute couture gown with a simple bodice features a graphic open bateau neckline that delicately frames her shoulders. Markle is also wearing a five-meter-long veil and a tiara over a loose bun.The silk tulle veil has a trim of hand-embroidered flowers, representing the flora of each of the 53 countries of the Commonwealth. The bride arrived at the chapel in a 1950 burgundy Rolls-Royce belonging to the Queen, a car the monarch used for her first official engagement.Waight Keller made history last year when it was announced she would be replacing Riccardo Tisci as Givenchy's artistic director. Today, the 47-year-old is one few women at the helm of a Parisian fashion house.The-CNN-Wire 1191

MILLCREEK CANYON, Utah - While fire crews were battling the "Crestwood Fire" Saturday near the base of Millcreek Canyon, homeowners and visitors in the canyon were busy packing and evacuating.During all of the commotion, Riley Burrows and Kaitlin Larsen had just tied the knot and were meeting with their guests.“We actually had a family friend come through the receiving line and told us that [the fire] had just started,” Larsen told FOX 13. “An officer then came up the line and told us we had about an hour before we had to leave. So everyone went crazy and started taking down all the decor… started getting us out of there as fast as we could.”While some may be angry their wedding and reception was interrupted by a fire, the couple laughed, reminisced and were in good spirits about it while recounting their story.“Our wedding worked out really well. We’re not disappointed that the fire happened — it was honestly quite the adventure,” Burrows said. Chiming in, Larsen added, “We now have a cool story: We were dealing with COVID, and now we can tell about a fire... Not everyone gets to say that!”The pair was married in front of a pond, which was then turned into a resource for helicopter crews battling the fire from the air — but it made for some good pictures as well.“They had two helicopters every five minutes coming in, coming down, getting water and taking off,” the pair said. “It was so cool. We all went out there and we had our photographer take a picture with us and it dropping right behind us, because it was like, 'We have to get this!'”Even first responders came to honor the newlyweds.“They came up and talked to us and gave us a little challenge coin and a hat and said they were so sorry," Larsen said. "Like, 'It’s not your fault! We appreciate what you’re doing to make it so we could finish as much as we could.'”The two have been through a lot to get married like a lot of other couples during the pandemic, but despite the difficulties and the addition of the fire, they were happy for the story that they could tell. They also had a message to others in similar positions.“Just stay hopeful. Regardless, you’re going to get married," they said. "Even if it’s just with close family and friends, you’re still getting married and that’s what matters.”The pair overall wanted to thank all of their guests for making the day so special and for being with them on their special day, despite the difficulties of the pandemic and the fire breaking out.The blaze was 90 percent contained as of Sunday evening. No homes or other structures were damaged, and no injuries were reported. This story originally reported by Spencer Joseph on fox13now.com. 2687
