LA JOLLA (CNS) - A man was seriously injured Saturday when he lost control of his vehicle, which hit a median and rolled over a couple of times, police said.The man, 59, was driving a 2001 Toyota Tundra westbound in the 2500 block of La Jolla Parkway at about 6 a.m. when he experienced a possible medical condition, causing him to lose control of the vehicle, said Officer Tony Martinez of the San Diego Police Department."The vehicle veered to the left and struck the raised concrete median," he said. "The vehicle rolled over a couple of times and came to rest in the westbound No. 1 lane, facing east."The driver sustained a spinal fracture and he was taken to the hospital.Traffic Division officers responded to the scene and will be handling the investigation, Martinez said. 789

KFC is running out of ... chicken?The fast food chain has been forced to temporarily close hundreds of restaurants in the United Kingdom after a logistics snafu stopped chicken deliveries.About 800 of the company's roughly 900 locations in Britain were closed as of midday on Monday. Some had opened for business by the afternoon, according to the company's website.KFC, which is owned by Taco Bell and Pizza Hut parent Yum!, said the chicken shortage had been caused by a "couple of teething problems" with its new delivery partner, DHL."We won't compromise on quality, so no deliveries has meant some of our restaurants are closed, and others are operating a limited menu, or shortened hours," KFC said in a statement.DHL acknowledged that a number of its deliveries had been "incomplete or delayed" because of "operational issues." The logistics company said it was working with KFC to solve the problem.KFC switched suppliers from Bidvest Logistics to DHL last Wednesday. Johnsonville is recalling more than 100,000 pounds of smoked pork sausage products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service. This comes after three reports of consumers finding pieces of hard, green plastic in the sausages. JAMUL, Calif. (KGTV) - A life’s work of rescuing horses burned to the ground in a matter of moments due to the Valley Fire burning east of San Diego.Patty Hyslop has overseen her horse rescue, Hyslop Horse Haven, for more than 20 years. She’s had Multiple Sclerosis for just about the same amount of time. The horses she saves have kept her moving through the pain.“If it weren’t for all the rest of the horses I don’t think she would still be here today,” said Shylynn Wellman, who has grown up at the ranch and now lives on the property.When Patty saw flames quickly approaching the ranch Saturday, she tried to get as many of her 24 horses out, but wasn’t able to save all of them.“The officers were like ‘you’re going to die if you don’t leave’ and I said I don’t care, I’m going to stay with my horses,” she said.Ultimately, she was the last one to leave the property and tried to save all of the horses, but had to leave a few behind.“I was so scared I was going to come home to burned and dead horses,” she said.Miraculously, when she returned, the horses she’d left had survived. Most of her ranch had not.In total, eight tack sheds filled with hundreds of thousands of dollars in horse supplies burned. The golf cart she uses to get around the large property, a huge help because of her MS, was a pile of melted metal. A majority of her property was blacked with ash as well. Despite the destruction, she still feels blessed.“I think it was a lot of luck. I think the horses, between that and God blessing us with horse angels, yeah,” she said.Right now, her horses are being housed at The Lucky Seven Ranch, and she’s hoping for some donations of horse supplies or sheds to get back on her feet. This GoFundMe has been set up to help the rescue ranch. Patty said her goal is to rebuild and continue inspiring people to save horses.“These kids come to me and say I want to grow up to be like you, I want to know as much as you do, I want to help horses, too. Oh it just fills my heart with joy,” she said. 2022

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Rep. Steve Watkins, R-Kansas, faces criminal charges associated with voting irregularities.Shawnee County District Attorney Mike Kagay announced Tuesday that Watkins has been charged with interfering with law enforcement by providing false information, voting without being qualified and unlawful advance voting. All three charges are felonies.Watkins also faces a misdemeanor charge of failing to notify the Department of Motor Vehicles of a change of address.Kagay said his office was notified of the allegations in December and asked the Shawnee County Sheriff’s office to conduct an investigation.An affidavit in the case was submitted Tuesday by the sheriff’s office to Shawnee County prosecutors.Kagay said the sheriff’s office is handling the investigation.Watkins serves as representative for Kansas’ 2nd Congressional District, which includes Topeka, Lawrence, Atchison and other parts of eastern Kansas outside the Kansas City area.This story was originally published by Sam Hartle on KSHB in Kansas City, Missouri. 1052
