President Donald Trump had another tweet of his partially muted by Twitter on Tuesday, as the social media platform said that a tweet sent by the president earlier in the day violated the site’s rules. In the last month, Twitter has blocked or partially muted several Trump tweets after facing criticism that the social media platform does not follow its own policy toward presidential tweets. In cases like the tweet sent by Trump on Tuesday, Twitter said that the tweet is still viewable due to “public interest.”The tweet in question from Trump reads, “There will never be an ‘Autonomous Zone’ in Washington, D.C., as long as I’m your President. If they try they will be met with serious force!”Trump’s post came in response to several hundred protesters being pushed out of Lafayette Park Monday night after they attempted to bring down a statue of Theodore Roosevelt. Several protesters then crossed the street to the St. John’s Episcopal Church and spray painted that the area is an “autonomous zone.” The church was the site of a now infamous photo op featuring the president moments after officers used tear gas on a largely peaceful protest to clear the area.Twitter issued the following warning along with the tweet:“This Tweet violated the Twitter Rules about abusive behavior. However, Twitter has determined that it may be in the public’s interest for the Tweet to remain accessible.”Last month was the first time Twitter censored a presidential tweet.“We've taken action in the interest of preventing others from being inspired to commit violent acts, but have kept the Tweet on Twitter because it is important that the public still be able to see the Tweet given its relevance to ongoing matters of public importance,” Twitter said last month.Trump also threatened to take action against Twitter after the platform issued a fact check alongside a tweet which Trump claimed that mail-in voting is prone to fraud – a repeated claim that has been made by the president despite little evidence to support the claim. 2033

An invitation-only funeral will be Saturday at Second Baptist Church.A website for the former first lady suggests donations to the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy.Bush was married to former President George H.W. Bush for 73 years. The mother of six children -- including President George W. Bush -- grandmother to 17 and great-grandmother to seven, the former first lady spearheaded family literacy programs during her time in office and beyond."Mrs. Bush played an especially important role in the White House in that she reactivated the Committee for the Preservation of the White House and helped establish the White House Endowment Trust," White House Historical Association President Stewart McLaurin said in a statement, thanking Bush for her work that continues to provide financial assistance for conservation projects in the state rooms of the White House and other collections.Bush was known as a matriarch to a political dynasty, and for her quick wit and strong personal views.Speaking to Wellesley College's Class of 1990, an appearance that drew criticism from students who questioned her credentials to address female graduates entering the workforce, she addressed the audience with her signature good humor."Somewhere out in this audience may even be someone who will one day follow my footsteps and preside over the White House as the president's spouse. I wish him well," she said. 2194
President Donald Trump said Thursday he is opposed to changing the structure for the remaining two presidential debates. On Wednesday, the Commission on Presidential Debates said it was considering changes following Tuesday’s debate which contained frequent interruptions. “The Commission on Presidential Debates sponsors televised debates for the benefit of the American electorate,” the commission said on Wednesday. “Last night’s debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues. The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly. The Commission is grateful to Chris Wallace for the professionalism and skill he brought to last night’s debate and intends to ensure that additional tools to maintain order are in place for the remaining debates.” But changes generally would have to be agreed upon by the campaigns, and it appears Trump opposes any changes. “Why would I allow the Debate Commission to change the rules for the second and third Debates when I easily won last time” Trump tweeted. Wallace called Tuesday’s debate a ‘missed opportunity' in an interview with the New York Times. “I never dreamt that it would go off the tracks the way it did,” he told the New York Times. 1365
