“I have never in 23 years ran across this!”That's how assistant Bristow, Oklahoma police chief Kendra Raney described what happened in the ladies restroom of Walmart on Tuesday. "A Walmart employee requesting an ambulance for a lady that was inside the women's bathroom either having a miscarriage, or having a baby," Raney said. That 911 call triggered emergency responses from multiple agencies, including police, fire and the Creek County Ambulance service. It sent paramedics racing to help.Raney described what first responders found, stating, "I understand the Walmart employees performed lifesaving measures and when the ambulance got there, they transported them both to a Tulsa Hospital."The Bristow Fire Department report shows it paramedics worked on the baby girl for 17 minutes. They gave her oxygen and cleared her airways. Finally, she took breaths on her own and made a weak cry.Why was the baby was born in the Walmart restroom? "Mom stated that she started having contractions about 2:30 in the morning that morning and she didn't think that they warranted a visit to the hospital," Raney explains. "She got up later, got her kids off to school and felt that she needed to use the restroom, so she stopped at the Walmart which the middle school's right across from the Walmart."Raney says the mother felt some pressure and then the baby came out. We asked how the mother and baby girl are doing now. Then she added, "Both are gonna make it."Raney said, the incident is still under investigation. Bristow police are not releasing the mother's name, or which hospital the mother and baby were taken to in Tulsa. A 9th grade student at Buffalo’s International Preparatory School in New York says she was forced to remove her hijab by an assistant principal.“He was like, ‘Take that thing off your head, you’re not Muslim or Arabian.’” That’s what Najah Travis claims assistant principal Marin Lyonga told her after pulling her to the side on Monday.She refused, and called her mother. When Luvita Franklin arrived she said she was speaking with a second assistant principal, Patrick Doyle, who told her it’s district policy to provide proof of practicing the Muslim faith to wear a hijab.In a recording of the conversation played by Franklin for our cameras Doyle can be heard saying “It is a district policy.” When Franklin asked whether it was new he replied, “It’s not new.”We send a transcript to representative from the school district. Buffalo Schools chief of staff Darren Brown says it is not a policy for the district that students are required to provide proof of religion.He says administrators are always free to inquire more about students’ religions and ask questions to understand more. 2018 was the deadliest year for hot car deaths in the United States, according to a study released on Wednesday by the National Safety Council. According to the National Safety Council, 51 children died in 2018 from pediatric vehicular heatstroke. Last year's figure tops the previous record of 49 related fatalities set in 2010. The Council said that an average of 38 children die a year in the United States from being left in a hot car. Since 1998, 47 states have had at least one pediatric vehicular heatstroke fatality. A 30-year-old Spirit Airlines passenger on a flight from Detroit to New Orleans recently got himself banned for life after deciding to take a smoke break in the plane's bathroom.An attendant on Flight NK 985 told a deputy on Tuesday that she saw him take a drag from an e-cigarette and exhale into a bag, said Jefferson Parish Sheriff's spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde. She admonished him.The St. Petersburg, Florida, resident then got up and headed for the restroom, according to a report filed with the sheriff's office. While he was in the bathroom, the plane's smoke alarm went off.When a deputy met the plane at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, the unidentified passenger denied smoking in the restroom, according to the report. He told a deputy he didn't know smoking was prohibited on flights.The passenger was not arrested but he may never again fly with Spirit: The deputy's report said the company banned him for life."It's a private business that can ban customers at their own leisure," Rivarde said."It's like telling you not to come back to the restaurant.
