GENEVA, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- China has made great progress over the past 40 years of reform and opening up, and this progress only happened because China followed "a path of human rights development with Chinese characteristics," a senior Chinese diplomat said here on Monday.
China is one of Tajikistan's most important trading partners and in the first seven months of this year, trade turnover between the two countries has achieved double-digit growth. During Li's visit, the two sides will further strengthen trade, as well as customs and local cooperation.
China has gradually been eradicating poverty since the country's reform and opening-up policy was launched in 1978. Continued hard work for 40 years has helped more than 700 million of the population shake off poverty and created miracles in human poverty reduction history, said Xi.
China is always the builder of world peace, contributor to world development and defender of the international order, and China's economic and diplomatic activities around the globe are widely welcomed by other countries, said Hua, adding that China will by no means seek its own development at the expense of other countries' interests.
