(KGTV) — CHP officers are searching for the driver who hit a motorcyclist in the North County on Friday and fled the scene.At about 6:30 a.m., a 44-year-old man was riding a 2014 Yamaha motorcycle on southbound Interstate 15 north of State Route 78. The driver of a Kia Soul changed lanes, hitting the motorcyclist, and ejecting him from the bike and into the center divider, CHP says.After the collision, the Kia avoided hitting the rider but fled the scene.The motorcyclist was taken to a nearby hospital with major injuries that are considered non-life threatening.The Kia Soul SUV is described as being a 2014 year model or newer and brown in color. ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) - One of the two victims killed in a crash in Escondido Sunday night has been identified as 19-year-old Ana Lira.The crash occurred just before 11:30 p.m. on El Norte Parkway and Ash Street, according to Escondido police.A witness told 10News he believed a Dodge Charger ran a red light and collided with a Ford Mustang in the intersection.Police confirmed one of the cars ran a red light, but they could not confirm which car committed the violation.One person was ejected from the Mustang and landed in the front yard of a nearby home. That person was declared dead at the scene, and another person inside the Mustang was also killed in the crash.The Charger’s driver and another person from the Mustang were taken to the hospital with serious injuries.The crash forced police to close El Norte Parkway between Conway Drive and Fig Street. (KGTV) - April is Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Assault Awareness month in America.To mark the importance of the issue, Palomar Medical Center in Escondido placed 891 pinwheels outside their facility. Federal authorities said the man arrested in connection to sending explosive devices to multiple politicians and a media outlet is charged with five federal crimes.Cesar Sayoc, 56, faces 58 years in prison, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said today. (KGTV) -- Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred during a traffic stop in Escondido early Friday morning.The incident happened at around 3:45 a.m. on Broadway, near Washington Avenue, according to Escondido police.Police said officers were initially called to a home in the 300 block of Park Avenue due to a reported restraining order violation. In the call, a woman said her former husband, 44-year-old Rosendo Sandoval Quezada was at her home and she identified his vehicle.On Broadway, an officer spotted a white car being driven by Quezada and pulled him over.According to police, Quezada "exited his vehicle holding a 3-foot long crow bar and ran toward the officer."Police confirmed the situation prompted the officer to fire multiple shots. Quezada was struck in the abdomen, and he was transported to Palomar Hospital for treatment of his injuries.Police said the officer, who was not injured in the incident, is a 4-year veteran of the department. A lieutenant at the scene told 10News he believes this was the first time the officer was involved in a shooting. The officer was placed on administrative leave pending the investigation.According to police, the officer’s body camera was active during the incident.A stretch of Broadway at Washington Ave. was closed for several hours due to the probe. 1364
