BEIJING, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday exchanged congratulatory messages with Papua New Guinea (PNG) Governor-General Michael Ogio on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties.

The call for Party unity around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core was included in a communique released after the sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee, which was held from Monday to Thursday.

Yang Jing, state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council, declared the ceremony open. The ceremony was supervised by Premier Li Keqiang.

China and Cambodia enjoy flourishing people-to-people and cultural exchanges, which have added strong momentum to the growth of their relations.
