SAN DIEGO (CNS) - For the fourth day in a row, San Diego County public health officials Saturday reported a case rate of fewer than 100 positive COVID-19 tests per 100,000 people, however, the state said it will have to review data before removing the county from its monitoring list.Previously, county and state officials had said if the rate stays below 100 per 100,000 people -- it was 94.7 Saturday -- for three consecutive days, the county would officially be removed from that list. That's down from 40 arrests in the area at the same time last year.Statewide, the CHP arrested 639 people for suspected DUI violations Friday night and early Sunday, up from 604 in 2017.There were 20 traffic fatalities reported by law enforcement agencies across the state during the period -- including one in San Diego County. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A train struck and killed a pedestrian in Old Town Thursday, authorities reported.The rail fatality in the 4000 block of Taylor Street occurred about 11:30 a.m., according to sheriff's officials.Details on the circumstances of the death, including the victim's age and gender, were not immediately available.Due to the fatality, Coaster passenger-train service was delayed until further notice, North County Transit District advised. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - Lab-confirmed flu cases increased countywide last week for the second consecutive week, county health officials announced Wednesday.The county Health and Human Services Agency confirmed 74 flu cases, an increase of 22 cases over the revised 52 confirmed the previous week. The county confirmed 30 cases during the week of Oct. 20-26.County health officials have confirmed 475 flu cases to date since tracking for the 2019-2020 flu season began July 1.
