NATIONAL CITY, Calif. (KGTV) -- A man who was apparently shot with an arrow was found dead in National City Monday afternoon.According to National City Police, the incident was reported at around 2:30 p.m. near the 1800 block of Wilson Avenue. After the shooting, the suspect reportedly called police saying he shot an arrow into a man. The suspect told police there was a fight before the shooting.NCPD Captain Alex Hernandez said the suspect showed officers where the victim was located. The victim was found in what appeared to be a homeless encampment and pronounced dead at the scene."We were able to recover the bow and some other items that were nearby as evidence," said Hernandez.Police say a woman who was believed to be with the two men at the time of the shooting was questioned. All three are believed to be transients living in the encampment where the incident took place, police say. While the deceased man was not identified, National City police identified the suspect as 39-year-old Miguel Venegas; he was booked into jail on a suspicion of murder charge. 1080

MYAKKA CITY, Fla. — Twenty-four hours after Mother's Day, a picture Crystal Ingramm took is still hard to digest."I was sad more than anything else," Ingramm said. The mom was driving with her family to a celebratory breakfast. Suddenly, her husband pulled over when he spotted something strange near the forest preserve off Wachula and Taylor roads in Myakka City, Florida."He said, 'I think I saw an alligator on the side of the road,'" Ingramm said. "We thought it was caught in a barbed wire fence. When we got close we realized there were two of them and they were already dead, and their tails had been cut off."Growing up in the small Myakka City community and used to seeing alligators, Ingramm said she immediately knew this was no accident."This was done for only one possible purpose, and they were discarded here," Ingramm said. That's why she said she took the picture and posted it to a community page to let others know about the possible crime. The photo was shared, prompting people like Julie Morris to drive by the preserve."We need to find out who's doing it and make sure that this does not continue to happen," Morris said. That's also why Ingramm said she shared the photo with FWC, the state agency that oversees wildlife concerns."I know alligators are hunted, but there is a lawful and responsible way to do that. You don't obviously just cut their tails and leave all their body parts. This was not an act of hunting, this was something else," Ingramm said.FWC allows alligator hunting in a very limited capacity. The season doesn't start until August. There are also specific rules on how to trap alligators, and cruelty is not an option. It's why officers are taking this seriously. A spokesperson said it's too early to speculate, but if there is a sinister motive, there are repercussions. Ingramm said she just hopes she can get the image out of her mind."To see them mutilated like that is shocking," she said. 2051

Musicians of the Nashville Symphony have created a fund to raise money for furloughed members due to the COVID-19 shutdown. The Nashville Symphony Players’ Assembly set up the fund on their website. They're raising the money for 83 members of the orchestra who are still on a furlough that could last a full year. Click here to donate to the Nashville Symphony members. "It's really terrifying. You have a lot of single parents in the orchestra," said Melinda Whitley, a long time viola player for the symphony.Whitley said she knows of at least two musicians who have had to sell their home because of the furlough, which started on July 1."No one prepares, not on a musician's salary, to spend a year with no income," she said.To encourage people to donate, and to continue to play their music, the Musicians of the Nashville Symphony have continued to play live music online. This past weekend an online concert was held at St. George Episcopal Church in Nashville.A number of concerts have also been planned to help raise money for the musicians."This is Nashville. And it's a very creative place and a supportive place. If we can continue to serve the community the best way we know how then they will continue to help us. That's the best we can do for ourselves at this point," said Whitley.Whitley said she's worried more musicians will leave the orchestra if something doesn't change soon. She's worried unemployment won't last them a whole year. This story was first reported by Kyle Horan at WTVF in Nashville, Tennessee. 1548

MoviePass is making big changes in a bid to stay alive. The service, which lets subscribers see a movie a day in the theater, is raising the price of its standard plan from to .95 per month. The change will take effect in the next 30 days. And some major releases will be "limited in their availability" on the service for the first two weeks they're in theaters. It's not clear how "limited" those films will be to MoviePass users. The company did say that big movies may be made available through promotions.MoviePass subscribers have already reported similar restrictions. For example, the blockbuster "Mission: Impossible — Fallout," which opened last weekend, was unavailable for at least some MoviePass customers. The changes come amid serious financial woes for the company, which borrowed million last week so it could pay for movie tickets.MoviePass is also facing some big competition: Less than an hour after the company announced its plans Tuesday, the theater chain AMC said it has enrolled 175,000 people in its own, similar service within the first five weeks of its debut.AMC charges per month for the ability to see three movies a week at any AMC location. It expects to reach 1 million members within two years.MoviePass, meanwhile, has more than 3 million subscribers. But analysts have questioned whether it can stay in business.Stock in its parent company, Helios and Matheson, has dropped more than 99 percent since last fall. The company's market value has plunged from .8 billion to less than million. The stock more than doubled on Tuesday after MoviePass announced the price increase, but it quickly gave up all of that gain. The stock closed down nearly 40 percent, at 50 cents per share. In a new "plan for profitability," the company also noted that cost-cutting has helped bring its cash-burning under control. It has been blowing through million to million each month, according to regulatory filings. 1976
