LOS ANGELES (AP) — Authorities say “Glee” star Naya Rivera has been found dead at a Southern California lake. Ventura County sheriff’s officials confirmed at a news conference that the body found floating in Lake Piru earlier Monday was the 33-year-old Rivera. The discovery came five days after Rivera’s 4-year-old son was found asleep and alone on a rented boat. Authorities said the following day they believed Rivera had drowned. She is the third star of the Fox musical-comedy series “Glee” to die in their 30s. Her death was confirmed exactly seven years after co-star Corey Monteith died. 603
LONDON (AP) — Oxford University says trials of a coronavirus vaccine that it is developing with pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca will resume, days after being paused due to a reported side-effect in a patient in the U.K. The university said in large trials such as this “it is expected that some participants will become unwell and every case must be carefully evaluated to ensure careful assessment of safety.” It said globally 18,000 people have received the vaccine so far. Oxford insisted that it is “committed to the safety of our participants.” Pauses in drug trials are commonplace. The Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine is seen as one of the strongest contenders among the dozens of coronavirus vaccines being tested. 728

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Lawyers for a church with more than 160 congregations across California say they will seek an immediate court order allowing indoor worship after the Supreme Court told a lower federal court to reexamine state coronavirus restrictions on church services. The victory Thursday for Pasadena-based Harvest Rock Church and Harvest International Ministry follows a recent high court ruling in favor of churches and synagogues in New York. “The bottom line result is that where the court needs to go is inevitable,” said Attorney Mathew Staver, who represents the church. “What the court did last week and what they did today, it’s a whole new landscape and I think they’ve telegraphed quite clearly the direction they’re going.”RELATED: San Diego County issues COVID-19 outbreak notices for two more Awaken Church locationsThe Supreme Court order came the day after restaurants gained some traction in their challenge to a Los Angeles County ban on outdoor dining.
