FORT MYERS, Fla. — A Fort Myers, Florida, parent says there is such a thing as being overly cautious when it comes to COVID-19 safety.Lexington Middle School told Sheila Gayle’s eighth grade daughter to quarantine for 10 days because of what they thought were COVID-19 symptoms. But, mom says it’s just “that time of the month.”Her daughter went back to school today, but not before taking a trip to see her doctor after she reported feeling tired. The district required her to either quarantine until October 23 or show proof that it wasn’t COVID-19.So, instead of dropping off her daughter at school Tuesday morning, Gayle had to visit to Physicians’ Primary Care for a doctor’s note saying her daughter’s menstrual cycle caused the fatigue.“This what it’s come down to, so every month I have to come when she’s on her cycle? It’s just ridiculous at this point,” she said.Gayle says Monday afternoon, her daughter told the school nurse she had just started her cycle and felt tired. No fever, no body aches, just tired.“Just to have fatigue, because you’re tired? That’s unacceptable,” said Gayle.The nurse gave the student a form, indicating her fatigue could be related to COVID-19.A spokesperson for the School District of Lee County referred us to their website, pointing out students can return to school sooner if a doctor proves symptoms are caused by something other than the coronavirus.Gayle said she had two options. Either quarantine her daughter, which would also mean quarantine her siblings enrolled in other Lee County schools, or take time off work and get the doctor’s note. She chose the latter, hoping she won’t have to go through this again next month.“I just feel like this whole system needs to be re-evaluated,” said Gayle.The district said as of now students are not required to quarantine if a sibling has COVID-19 related symptoms. Former ESPN president John Skipper says he abruptly resigned from the network late last year because he was being extorted by a cocaine dealer.In an in-depth interview with The Hollywood Report's James Andrew Miller, Skipper recounted his substance abuse issues and the decision to leave the network.Skipper told Miller that he used cocaine intermittently throughout his professional life. He says the habit began before he joined ESPN in 1997, but maintained that his drug use never interfered with his work, outside of "a missed plane and a few canceled morning appointments."Skipper also said he was "unusually clever" in finding ways to buy cocaine so as not to attract attention to himself. That changed in December, when he says someone he had not dealt with before attempted to extort him for purchasing drugs."It turned out I wasn’t careful this time," Skipper told Miller.Skipper immediately informed Disney CEO Bob Iger of the threat."When I discussed it with Bob, he and I agreed that I had placed the company in an untenable position and as a result, I should resign," Skipper told Miller.On Dec. 18, Skipper shocked ESPN employees by announcing his resignation, citing substance abuse issues. FLORIDA — Police say former Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins player Richie Incognito was involved in a disturbance at a Lifetime Gym in Boca Raton, Florida on Wednesday morning.Police said Incognito was involuntarily committed under Florida's Baker Act. The act allows officials to apprehend and order a mental evaluation of a person.Incognito reportedly threw a dumbbell at a man at the gym and that's why police were called, according to TMZ.com.Incognito played for the Buffalo last season. In the buildup to the draft, he took a restructured contract with the Bills, publicly fired his agent on Twitter after that deal was signed, and retired shortly after that. The Bills officially added him to the reserve/retired list on April 12.Once Organized Team Activities started around the league, Incognito -- according to ESPN -- wanted to make a return to the NFL, despite retiring from the league and team just one month prior. The Bills granted his reported wish, releasing him off the reserve/retired list on Monday.The move officially made Incognito an unrestricted free agent, able to be signed by any other team.
