Preflight COVID-19 testing is starting to become an option to avoid doing a 14-day quarantine when you get to your final destination.Starting November 1, you'll be allowed to travel to Costa Rica from the United States if you get a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of leaving the U.S.The Bahamas is taking it a step further. Starting November 1, you can travel there if you get a negative PCR test 7 days before your trip. Then, you'll have to get a rapid antigen test when you get there and four-days later.Hawaii lifted its 14-day quarantine last week for people who have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of the flight.“Having these alternatives to quarantine related to travel creates some confusion about what a test really means in the context of quarantine, so I worry a little bit that we're losing that message that a test is only just a moment in time,” said Dr. Shira Doron, an infectious disease physician at Tufts Medical Center.Doron says because of the incubation period for COVID-19, you can have it any time between 2 and 14 days after you're exposed. A negative result is only at the time you took the test.Recent studies have shown your risk of contracting the coronavirus on your flight is very low if strict mask wearing is followed.“I think, you know, the bigger issue is an influx of people incubating COVID-19 into an island that may have done a really good job controlling the pandemic and on the flip side really needs that tourist revenue,” said Doron.She says places like the Bahamas that require multiple tests is more effective.It could be a challenge to get that test before you leave. Doron says many hospitals stopped doing pre-and-post travel testing because of a lack of supplies.The turnaround time on getting the test is also an issue. (KGTV) - Burglars left behind a trail of destruction at two locations, which included an apparent attempt to delay a Poway family's return home.Just before 5 p.m. Wednesday, doorbell video shows Diana's family pulling out of their driveway in Poway, bound for a jujitsu class in Kearny Mesa. After that class, they discovered one of the tires on their van flattened. The culprit: the metal valve on that tire had been sliced. They got their van towed to a mechanic and received an Uber ride to their home off Pomerardo Road, arriving just before 7:15 p.m."The first thing we noticed was our doorbell was on the ground," said Diana.Her Ring doorbell had been yanked out. Inside the home was darkness."Our power was cut. It was pitch black. My kids were terrified," said Diana.Her kids, ages 8 and 10, remained outside while her husband, Jay, went inside with a phone light."I thought someone took a sledgehammer to the house, or a hammer, or a bat," said Jay.The trail of destruction up his staircase was caused by none of those things. Instead, the damage was made by their 400 lb. safe, shoved out of their bedroom by the intruders."What they likely did was roll it on its side and shove it down the steps," said Diana.Inside the safe were two iPads, two watch winders and a gold-and-diamond Rolex watch that Jay had spent years saving for.Turns out the burglars had gone to the side of the house, opened up the electrical box and cut the power, before drilling open a keyhole in the patio door. But another action is perhaps the most disturbing part of the crime. In the video, moments after they leave, you can hear an engine start. A van appears to follow their van. Diana believes some of the burglars followed them to their class and flattened their tire to delay their trip home."Just feels vulnerable and violating," said Diana.The van that was following them was a blue van, possibly a Dodge Caravan. PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. — A couple believes they got bed bugs from shopping at Port Charlotte Town Center.Matthew Nystrom said he noticed bed bugs in his bedroom Sunday. Just one day after his wife bought new jeans for him at one of the mall's department stores.He said he didn’t know where the bugs came from at first, but he said they noticed the bugs the same day he decided to wear his new jeans. Then he found a bed bug gnawing at his leg.“Pulling it out of my leg was like…I better not tell my wife or she’s gonna freak out,” Nystrom said. Then he decided to tell his wife Hillary Nystrom.She said she read comments from other people on social media complaining about bed bugs at the mall. That's when she decided to check the other pair of brand new pants that they hadn’t taken out of the bag yet.“I pulled the one pair that were in there out and I just unfolded it. And there was one sitting right there,” she said, referring to a bed bug.She said she saw it in the shopping bag after they had the house exterminated by Ace Pest Management. Pest specialist Randy Wells shared a few tips on how to get rid of them as soon as possible.“Pretty much anything that you can throw in a dryer that you think has bed bugs or the like, just put it in at high heat on a cycle and that’ll kill the bedbugs. And again call a pest professional for a thorough inspection,” he said.Wells added people can also rid their homes of the bugs by avoiding taking affected items or even moving from room to room.Several other customers have complained on Facebook about finding bed bugs in clothing after shopping at Port Charlotte Town Center, too. One said a friend was bitten on her foot after wearing new shoes from a shoe store. Poway, Calif., (KGTV)-- The City of Poway's water boil advisory was officially lifted on Friday, but the inconvenience continues for many residents. Tenants of two dozens units at the La Privada Apartments are being evicted suddenly after management discovered rain damage. When it rains, it pours, especially for Poway resident, Allan Moore. "We have a week left," Moore said. "We have to be out by the 15th."Right in the middle of last week's city-wide water boil advisory, he and tenants in 23 other units at the La Privada Apartments were surprised with an eviction notice. It said they must leave the premises and turn in their keys by December 15, 2019. Moore said management explained that the same set of storms that destroyed the city's water system caused the water damage to the units. According to the notice, Moore will get his security deposit, December, and part of November's, rent paid back."I'm very clueless about it right now," Moore said. "And I haven't had hardly any communication."According to law experts, people in Moore's situation do have rights. Laws state that the landlord or property manager must give "reasonable" time for tenants to move out. The specifics of that time frame are in the provisions of the leasing agreement. In Moore's case, the property manager or tenant has the right to terminate a leasing contract if repairs are expected to take longer than 60 days. In this case, management company, Capital Growth Properties, states the repairs could take up to six months. How much assistance the landlord gives, such as finding new or temporary housing, is up to the property manager. Experts told 10News, in some cases, if the management companies own other properties, they may relocate tenants into unaffected, open units. However, Moore says he has not heard of this option from Capital Growth Properties. The rest, such as additional living expenses and food during the inconvenience, is up to their renter's insurance. In the meantime, Moore's house is a mess. "Christmas has kind of been put on hold," Moore sighed. A nutcracker and one sad set of lights are the only signs of the holidays in the usually festive home. "We're just going to have to take it down before Christmas, so we're like, 'let's just stop decorating,'" Moore said. Moore just hopes they find a place soon before they get kicked out.
