(KGTV) - A Los Angeles real estate CEO accused of gaining preference for admission to University of San Diego for his children was one of three parents who pleaded guilty Friday in the college bribery scandal. Robert Flaxman admitted in a Boston courtroom he agreed to pay Rick Singer, the head of a college admissions company, ,000 to partake in the college entrance exam cheating scheme for his daughter. Flaxman’s daughter, who was accepted to USD but did not attend, had a proctor to boost her ACT scores, prosecutors said. Prosecutors also alleged early in the investigation Singer doctored Flaxman’s son’s college essay and application and sent them to a USD varsity coach, later identified by the university as former basketball coach Lamont Smith . (KGTV) — A Delaware school is apologizing after the infamous Rosanne Barr rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner" recorded in San Diego was played before a recent high school football game.The Seaford School District said Wednesday they are unsure of how the recording was played before Seaford High School's Tuesday night football game, according to the News Journal of Wilmington.A letter from Superintendent David Perrington said the pregame proceedings with be improved and they are looking into the recent fumble.Students and families were shocked when Barr's version of the national anthem, recorded before a San Diego Padres game on July 25, 1990, blared over the intercom to usher in the game.Perrington's letter says the district usually plays the national anthem before games and will pay a district-approved version in the future.Need a reminder of how the infamous rendition played out? (KGTV) -- Democrat Juan Vargas has won reelection to the U.S. House in the 51st Congressional District, the Associated Press says. He faced Republican Juan Hidalgo. Juan Vargas was first elected in 2013. He served on the committee of financial services and the committee of foreign affairs from 2019 to 2020.Vargas previously served on the State Senate representing the 40th District, the State Assembly in the 79th District, and the San Diego City Council.Hidalgo is a retired US Marine. He faced Vargas in 2018 with Vargas capturing 71 percent of the vote.The district includes all of Imperial County and the southern part of San Diego County including National City, Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, and El Centro. 721
