SAN DIEGO (CNS) - San Diego Padres outfielder Tommy Pham has sued a Midway District strip club where he was stabbed last month.Pham, 32, was stabbed around 10:30 p.m. Oct. 11 outside Pacers Showgirls International by an unknown person or persons who took part in a fight that broke out in the club's parking lot.According to the lawsuit filed Tuesday in San Diego Superior Court, the fight outside Pacers left Pham "trapped" inside the club. The suit alleges the club's private security "escalated the risk" to Pham "by participating in the fight and antagonizing" the fight participants. The suit also alleges club employees did not contact law enforcement "or take any reasonable measures to mitigate" the dangers. Due to unspecified "incidents of violence by third parties" that had occurred at the club in the past, the lawsuit alleges Pacers should have been aware of the possibility of a similar incident and taken measures to prevent it.A representative with the club could not immediately reached for comment.Pham later tried to leave the club, and while walking toward the valet stand to get his car, he was attacked by someone who stabbed the major leaguer "without any provocation," the complaint states.RELATED: County demands Midway District strip club stop "live entertainment" over health ordersA statement released by the Padres shortly after the incident described Pham's injury as a non-life-threatening slash wound to his lower back, while the lawsuit alleges he suffered "catastrophic injuries, which have and will continue to cause him significant economic damage, including but not limited to his earning capacity as an elite professional baseball player."Police have not announced any arrests in connection with the stabbing.A hearing in the case is currently slated for June 25, according to court records. 1836

Yslas and Ramirez pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, while Weinberger pleaded to an assault with a deadly weapon count.RELATED: Three men plead guilty to Pacific Beach shotgun slayingYslas, who fired the fatal shots, faces up to 30 years in state prison when he is sentenced Jan. 10.Ramirez, who faces eight years in prison, is also due to be sentenced Jan. 10, while Weinberger is slated to be sentenced to up to four years in prison on Dec. 6.A probation report filed with the court indicates Mendivil was living at Weinberger's home at the time of his death.RELATED: Suspects in fatal Pacific Beach shooting to be arraigned; victim identifiedSosa had previously lived at the home, but was kicked out by Weinberger following a dispute, the report states.Mendivil then moved in, but soon after, Weinberger contacted Sosa asking him for help in removing Mendivil from the home for unspecified reasons, investigators were told. Weinberger told police he was drugged on the night of Mendivil's killing and forced to withdraw cash from his bank to pay Yslas and Ramirez, who were brought in to assist in forcibly removing Mendivil from the home, the document states. However, in the process of forcing Mendivil out, Yslas shot Mendivil twice, possibly because he thought the victim was reaching for a weapon, according to the report.RELATED: Man arrested in deadly stabbing outside of Pacific Beach 7-ElevenOfficers found Mendivil suffering from a gunshot wound when they responded to a 1:47 a.m. call of a possible shooting last Dec. 29, San Diego Police Lt. Matt Dobbs said.Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 2:30 a.m., Dobbs said.Deputy District Attorney Flavio Nominati said during Yslas and Ramirez's arraignment earlier this year that both men entered the home masked and gloved. The men then fled the scene in a vehicle following the shooting, according to Nominati.Weinberger and Sosa were arrested the day of the killing, while Yslas and Ramirez were already in custody on unrelated charges when they were re- arrested and charged in February for their roles in the homicide. 2586

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The San Diego Airport Authority announced Monday that the Pacific Highway Economy parking lot will permanently close to the public the day after Christmas. The lot will be converted into employee parking, according to airport officials. The need for a new employee lot was brought on by construction of a new stormwater infiltration system at the south side of the runway, where employees currently park. The new system is part of the airport's Stormwater Management Plan to control and reduce pollution caused by the airport's day-to-day operations.Airport travelers will still be able to use the parking lots at both terminals, the Terminal 2 parking plaza and the airport's long-term parking lot. With the loss of the economy lot, the airport will have a parking capacity of 8,300 vehicles between the four lots.Travelers can find more information about parking at the San Diego International Airport at san.org/parking. Travelers can also make advanced reservations for parking spaces at reservations.san.org. 1038
