DULZURA, Calif. (KGTV) — A woman and her 16-year-old daughter were rescued from a remote part of Otay Mountain Friday.U.S. Border Patrol said the woman and teenager were found after being lost without food and water in a mountainous area of southeast Otay Lakes Reservoir at about 12 p.m. Border Search Trauma and Rescue and San Diego Sheriff's Department responded to the rescue effort. Border agents had to hike to the mother and teen's location and begin life-saving treatment.RELATED: Several migrants rescued from flooded storm drain in San YsidroAgents said the pair were losing consciousness and incoherent when they were found.A helicopter was used to take the two to an ambulance, which brought them to a nearby hospital for treatment.The incident marked the 21st and 22nd rescues by border agents performed in 24 hours, after 20 people were rescued from a storm drain near San Ysidro on Thanksgiving Day. 922
EL CAJON, CA (KGTV) -- The Mother Goose Parade is an East County tradition dating back to 1947. But because of the pandemic, this year's parade will look a lot different. The sights and sounds will be virtual, thanks to the hard work of long-time El Cajon business owner, Patti Shryock. Besides running Cameo Janitorial and Paper Supply, she's also a true historian of the Mother Goose Parade."I've been with Mother Goose since 1985," says Shryock. "I love to see Mother Goose out there, and people come up, especially the kids, and hold her. Then you get the parents talking about their memories of the parade, and being in their child's same position. This has been going on now for 74 years."And just like the parade, her business is also a fixture in El Cajon, opening its doors back in 1963. Shryock and her brother took over full operation in the mid-1980's."My dad passed away in 1985, and my mom in 1990. However, they gave us enough background, and we worked enough in the business, where we were able to continue it on," she said.Shryock says over time a lot of hard work and great employees have created a lot of success. But now they are facing an obstacle as they have never seen before, and that would be the COVID-19 pandemic."I never saw it coming," Shryock says.Uncertain times means they've had to think outside the box"Sanitizer wipes, I started making some myself," she added.Shryock and her team at Cameo Janitorial and Paper Supply have persevered to keep the business going. The same can also be said about her effort to keep this year's Mother Goose Parade afloat. EL CAJON (CNS) - The California Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic collision in the 13500 block of Piping Rock Lane near El Cajon, authorities said today.At least one person has died, according to a dispatcher with the California Highway Patrol's Border Communications Center.The agency was notified of the crash by Heartland Fire & Rescue at 9:45 p.m. Saturday.CHP investigators were still on scene at 12:15 a.m. El Cajon police did not respond to the incident, as it occurred outside the city's boundaries, an El Cajon Police Department dispatcher said.The cause was under investigation. 614

EL CAJON, Calif. (KGTV) -- Dozens of dogs and cats landed in El Cajon today, after a flight from Louisiana to Gillespie Field. In July, rescue partners at Acadiana Animal Aid in Lafayette, LA helped rescue animals following floods in the area. This month, they've teamed up with the Wings of Rescue to help overcrowded shelters. The 75 to 90 animals will go to The Rescued Dog, Labradors and Friends Rescue, San Diego Humane Society, and the Rancho Coastal Humane Society. 512
