We also had women who were nail technicians who found the bodywork to be one to one with other life experiences that they had,” expressed Shawnda Williams, co-owner of Girl Gang Garage.Williams was once a ‘newbie’ at Girl Gang Garage but soon became passionate about the garage’s mission that she became a business partner with Bogi Lateiner.Now both women run Girl Gang Garage, a place that welcomes anyone looking to try something different.“When we teach these women how to work on these vehicles they’re really learning that this thing that they were afraid of isn’t so scary after all. And if that’s not so scary then what else in their life may not be so scary after all,” stated Lateiner.Whether it is mechanical work, welding, or body and paint. Any woman entering this garage will leave with a new trade skill, but also with a mission. You’re built for that. They’re learning that they can weld that they can use tools and cut things and to not be intimidated by this stuff. PARADISE HILLS (KGTV) -- A Paradise Hills nursing home sees a surge in COVID-19 cases, worrying the families of those who live in the facility.According to the administrator of Reo Vista Healthcare Center, 71 residents and 28 staff members have tested positive for COVID-19. One resident passed away. State data from Monday shows Reo Vista Healthcare Center with the highest one-day positive patient total in the county.“Eight residents are currently hospitalized in stable condition. The remaining residents who tested positive for COVID-19 are isolated at the facility with mild symptoms,” said Curtis White, Reo Vista Healthcare’s administrator.White added that four employees have recovered and the remaining who have tested positive are also self-isolating with mild symptoms.Cesar Noriega’s 90-year-old mother is currently staying at Reo Vista. She has also tested positive for the virus. “I was terrified,” he told Team 10.“It’s a staggering number by any measure,” said Mike Dark, an attorney with California Advocates for Nursing Home Reform. He is not affiliated with Reo Vista Healthcare.Dark said California rules require nursing homes to come up with testing plans to cover all residents and health care workers. “The problem has been an execution of those plans. PINE VALLEY, Calif. — A suspected human smuggler was sentenced to 30 months in prison for barreling through a Border Patrol checkpoint, narrowly missing vehicles and severely injuring a border agent.Jorge Garcia-Osornio, 28, of Michoacán, Mexico, was charged with transporting certain aliens and aiding and abetting from the Nov. 14, 2017 incident.Border officials said Garcia was illegally in the U.S. when he approached a Pine Valley border checkpoint with two illegal immigrants hidden in the floor of his vehicle. As he neared the line of cars waiting, Garcia made an illegal U-turn and began driving in the opposite direction on the freeway, officials said.Agents began to pursue Garcia before he made another U-turn and headed back toward the checkpoint at speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.As he reached the checkpoint, officials said Garcia narrowly missed two vehicles and a border agent, and blasted through a metal sign, sending debris in all directions.“In committing his criminal act, Garcia not only placed the lives of those he smuggled in grave danger, but seriously injured a Border Patrol agent in the process,” Chief Patrol Agent Rodney S. Scott.That debris severely injured a nearby agent, who likened the blow to being "hit with a baseball bat." PIKELOT ISLAND – Like out of a movie, three missing mariners were rescued from a deserted island in the Pacific after writing “SOS” in the sand.Authorities in the U.S. and Australia say the three men departed Puluwat Atoll on a 23-foot skiff last Thursday, intending to travel 21 nautical miles to Pulap, Chuuk.However, they never made it to their destination and were reported missing, according to the Anderson Air Force Base, Guam. A rescue mission was then launched.“Joint Rescue Sub-Center Guam received notification of an overdue skiff last seen in the vicinity of Chuuk and requested our assistance,” said U.S. Air Force Maj. Shaun McRoberts, 506th Air Expeditionary Aerial Refueling Squadron assistant director of operations. “Once notified, we began immediately working a plan to launch crews to locate the missing vessel.”After almost three hours into their mission and flying at about 1,500 feet, rescue crews located the mariners on the tiny, uninhabited island of Pikelot, Yap.“We were toward the end of our search pattern,” said U.S. Air Force Lt. Col.
