SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A new apartment complex in Pacific Beach is gearing up for its opening, but residents can expect to pay top dollar for all the bells and whistles offered by the complex. The Jefferson, a 3 million complex, is located just off I-5. According to its website, studio apartments range from ,478 to ,617. The largest apartments in the complex with three bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms range from ,987 to ,103. Those prices are much higher than the typical apartment in Pacific Beach, according to Zillow. Zillow’s rental map shows prices in Pacific Beach ranging from ,425 for a studio to more than ,850 for a three bedroom. Between those two price points, Zillow shows 152 apartments available for rent. One rental manager who spoke with 10News says The Jefferson may have a difficult time finding tenants at those prices. “Tenants, prospective tenants, they're educated. They educate themselves and they do comparative shopping. So if it's too high, you're going to sit empty,” said Jim Vosacek, who runs Western Hills Real Estate Management. While there are currently no other new, luxury developments like this in the area, this development will offer residents a quality, high-end lifestyle that has not previously been available. During the address, the President made an appeal to the American people on border security and a proposed border wall. Of 1,000 people asked for the 10News/Union Tribune poll, 35 percent say they watched the address while 32 percent say they didn’t. Of those who saw the address, a majority say they believe most of what the President said is false, while 23 percent say it was a mix of true and false. 539

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — A heartbreaking scene greeted a youth soccer club in Mira Mesa.All four of their goals were severely damaged.Aaron Vazquez, 12, has been playing soccer since he can remember. But last week, his fun came to an ugly halt."My heart dropped and my stomach tightened," said Vazquez.Juventus San Diego stores its goals at the Mira Mesa Recreation Center. Aaron's father, Sabino, is coaching director of the club. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - A man fell to his death from state Route 125 in the Bonita area Tuesday morning after a crash in which his car struck and killed a deer on the freeway.Friends told 10News the victim was Martin Lapisch, 44, a Chula Vista resident who is survived by his wife, Linda, and 15-month-old son Kenneth. He was a German immigrant who became a U.S. citizen in 2003, friends said.“He was a new dad with big dreams, whose life was cut short after a terrible, early morning accident," said a close friend of the victim. “He was a loving father, husband, brother and an awesome friend. He always helped people in need and never asked anything in return," said Lapisch's friend Peter Kritzko.Friends and family gathered together after the incident at Lapisch's home and spoke with 10News but asked not to be identified at this time.California Highway Patrol Sgt. Steve Jio said they received reports just before 4:45 a.m. of a car that hit a deer and then stalled on northbound SR-125 just before the transition to state Route 54.Jio said responding officers and fire crews arrived to find the car in the No. 2 lane abandoned with the dead deer in front of it. 1207

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- A man who recently returned from Iran is under self-quarantine at his parents' home in Rancho Bernardo. The traveler, who declined to give his name, lives in San Francisco. He said it would be easy to expose other family members at his home, but his parents have a detached unit where he can isolate himself. He said he contacted his healthcare provider for guidance before returning to the United States, but was directed to the CDC website. "The onus shouldn't be on me. There should be some kind of response, from the government or some kind of authority. I just feel they should be a lot more proactive. I feel it's going to hit us like a tsunami, " said the man. He was in Iran, where at least 200 people have died from COVID19, for the last few months taking care of his family business. He's been out of the country for eight days. He says he isn't showing any symptoms, but he still wants to be tested. "Per CDC guidelines, they said if you're not showing symptoms, you don't need, and the word was "need," you don't need a test, you should just self-quarantine until the 14 day period has passed. Need is one thing, I said I want to test, I said wouldn't you want to test, if you're a carrier you want to know." It's up to an individual's doctor or healthcare professional to recommend someone for testing, but the CDC has the final say.
