SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego Police officers babysat for a man who needed to go to the hospital Friday night but didn't have anyone to watch his two young daughters. According to the department, officers received a radio call from a young father living in the Alpha apartments. The man reportedly told authorities he was in need of hospital care. “Unfortunately, he had no family or friends to help watch the girls,” the department said.After the man was taken to the hospital, two officers stayed behind to watch the 2-year-old and 4-year-old before taking them to the hospital where they were reunited with their dad.“Dad was emotional and grateful for the support. If someone needs help, we'll be there to respond,” the department continued in the Facebook post.No emergency is too small for our officers. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diego Police are investigating Monday the discovery of a woman's body in a car parked in the Crown Point neighborhood of Pacific Beach.The decomposed remains were found in a black Acura SUV in the 3700 block of Yosemite Street, a residential area three blocks west of Crown Point Park.Neighbors had called to report the vehicle due to a foul odor.The window on the passenger side of the vehicle was broken by police, according to our 10News crew.Officers said the death did not appear to be suspicious, however they did not release details about the circumstances. 595

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are searching for a gunman after one person was shot and injured in the Logan Heights area on Sunday.Police said a 24-year-old man was sitting on his porch at 2248 Ocean View Blvd. when a vehicle drove up. A suspect exited the passenger side of the vehicle and fire one shot, hitting the victim in the buttocks.The suspect got back in the vehicle and fled the scene.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.SDPD officers are investigating the shooting. 532

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police are asking the public to help find the driver who left a man with several severe injuries along an Ocean Beach street last month.Police say at about 10 p.m. on Sept. 6, a 64-year-old man was walking his bike northbound in the bicycle lane of the 4000 block of Nimitz Blvd. The suspect, driving a newer model Nissan Versa Note hatchback (shown below), struck the victim. The driver sped off, leaving the man severely injured.The victim was taken to a nearby hospital suffering from several fractures to his pelvis, ribs, fibula, and foot. He also suffered lacerations and injuries to his bladder and liver. The man is expected to survive but remains hospitalized, police say.Police say the Nissan should have damage to its passenger side front headlight, fender, and side view mirror. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Residents in Ocean Beach are taking their concerns over what they say is a dangerous intersection to the OB Planning Board.Isaac Darby, Vice President of the OB Neighborhood Watch, says the intersection in question is Saratoga Ave. and Ebers St., situated near a children’s park and blocks away from Ocean Beach Elementary.The OB Neighborhood Watch group wants to see a four-way stop sign at the intersection. “People kind of pick up momentum seeing that the stop sign on Santa Monica is the last one all the way before the stoplight at Voltaire, so it’s kind of the last stop before you just can bonsai out of town,” said Darby.In addition to speeding, he says large trucks are often parked on the street causing blind spots. Darby says the intersection is most dangerous during the morning and evening commutes, for both drivers and pedestrians.Darby’s initial application to the city for a four-way stop sign was denied; he was told it didn’t meet city requirements. Now he and other residents are taking their concerns to the OB Planning Board in hopes of building a stronger case.The OB Planning Board Chair says the board can request a traffic study. Once it's complete, the city will review it and make a recommendation. “My plea is do something proactive before we have to be reactive and someone gets hurt or worse,” said Darby. “A lot of the little accidents and fender benders aren’t reported.”Darby says the community is only growing and that they hope to get ahead of problems. 1518
