LEMON GROVE, Calif. (KGTV) - A local city councilman is making a desperate plea for tips tonight after his wife was attacked outside their home. It happened just off Palm Street after 5:30 a.m. Saturday. A disturbing picture of the incident was painted in a Facebook post by Lemon Grove City Councilman David Arambula. He writes that his wife was "brutally attacked' while going to the trash can. He adds that the attacker, "opened our gate, then hit her over the hit her over the head with a block of wood. This was completely unprovoked and unexpected."One neighbor described her as traumatized, conscious and suffering a head wound. Deputies say the 38-year-old woman escaped into her home, while the man ran off. The motive remains a big mystery. Neighbors say they've had issues with people wandering the area, high on something."There is a sober living facility a few blocks away. We've had a few incidents of people in their own zone, yelling and screaming - but nothing violent," said neighbor Tim Bossard.Arambula posted on Facebook that his wife is "getting better."The attacker is described as a black man about 30 years old, 5'9", and 175 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt, dark denim shorts, high socks, white shoes, sunglasses and a blue hat. And for now, they don't think the new strains cause more severe COVID-19 illness or pose any concern for vaccines. Viruses naturally evolve as they move through the population. (AP) — Authorities say divers have found the body of the last missing victim in a fatal boat fire that killed 34 people off the Southern California coast.The victim is one of 34 who died at sea last week near Santa Cruz Island. Five of the Conception's six crew members survived after multiple attempts to save the others who were trapped below deck.Authorities have said the victims, 21 women and 13 men from 16 to 62 years old, appear to have died from smoke inhalation. One of the victims was San Diegan Nicole Quitasol, a waitress at Nickey Rotten's in Coronado.The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office also said Wednesday on Twitter that authorities are still doing DNA testing to confirm the identities of seven of the victims. Erik Raney says salvage efforts to recover the Conception also resumed Wednesday.The FBI, Coast Guard and U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles are conducting a criminal probe into the Sept. 2 tragedy. He abandoned a job in progress and that was how his employment with Roman Stoneworks actually came to an end.Unfortunately this individual, who was employed for less than 2 months, is now seeking to exploit the publicity that this false claim has created. He has started a Gofundme page to attempt to capitalize on his newfound exposure. Meanwhile, Roman Stoneworks and its owner and personnel have been subjected to significant monetary damage, as well as threats, profanity and harassment by phone and email. Due to the backlash from these false claims, my client's webpage has had to be removed, and the individuals involved have been inundated with calls and emails.If Mr. Hidalgo chose to tell the truth to all of the people who have now heard his false claims, then the matter may be able to be resolved amicably. (CNN) -- As the global economy shudders, the Middle East boils and the Amazon rainforest burns, world leaders are convening on France's Atlantic coast for a weekend of talks few believe can solve any of it.President Donald Trump arrived in France on Saturday morning after an overnight flight from Washington, his arrival preceded by more tit-for-tat tariff action that economists -- and most of the other Group of 7 heads -- believe is contributing to a global economic slump.His first stop was a sunny patio for lunch across from his host, French President Emmanuel Macron."So far, so good," Trump said, an optimistic assessment minutes into his three-day visit to France. "The weather is fantastic. Everybody's getting along. I think we will accomplish a lot this weekend."And while Macron made little effort to paper over his differences with Trump -- including on what he called "hot spots" like climate change -- Trump insisted they were getting along, at least most of the time."Once in a while we go at it just a little bit, not very much," he said.Later, he's due to attend a dinner for the leaders Saturday evening at the base of a tall white lighthouse planted atop a rocky cliff overlooking elegant Biarritz, the venue for this year's summit.
