Visiting Chinese State Councilor Dai Bingguo (L) meets with the United States National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley in Washington, capital of the United States, Dec. 12, 2008.     Dai said that the recent years had witnessed frequent contacts and high-level exchange of visits of the two countries, especially between state leaders, as well as deepening political and economic dialogues, ever-increasing mutual understanding, growing common grounds, expanding bilateral cooperation, and more and more convergence of mutual interests.     All these achievements highlight more than ever the strategic significance and global influence of a sound and stable Sino-U.S. relationship, Dai said.     The state councilor said that the Chinese side was ready to work with the U.S. side to move bilateral relationship of constructive cooperation forward.     For this end, he said, the two sides should continue to treat bilateral relationship from a strategic and long-term perspective, enhance dialogue, coordination and cooperation, and respect and accommodate each other's core interests and major concerns.     Rice said since the establishment of diplomatic ties, relations between the United States and China had kept improving and bilateral cooperation had been increasingly deepened.     The two sides have also had frequent communication and coordination in many areas such as how to cope with the ongoing global financial crisis and prevent the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, she said, adding that the United States and China have become good cooperative partners.     Rice said the Strategic Dialogue and Strategic Economic Dialogue between the United States and China should be carried on and expanded because the dialogues had increased mutual understanding and common grounds, achieved fruitful results and laid a solid foundation for the growth of bilateral friendly cooperation.     Hadley said that U.S.-China relationship had witnessed great growth in recent years thanks to efforts made by state leaders of the two countries.     He said the two sides should continue to strengthen cooperation in bilateral fields and on international and regional issues in a bid to move bilateral relationship further ahead.     At the invitation of the U.S. government, Dai arrived in New York on Wednesday on a week-long working visit to the United States.     The senior Chinese official is expected to co-chair the sixth Strategic Dialogue between the two countries with U.S. Deputy Secretary of State John Negroponte in Washington on Monday.     The China-U.S. Strategic Dialogue was launched in August 2005 in accordance with the consensus of the two heads of state. The fifth dialogue was held in China in January this year.

BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- A food company in east China's Shandong Province has been allowed to resume export of bean stuffing to Japan following earlier suspicion of food poisoning, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) said Friday.     In a brief statement posted on its Web site, the GAQSIQ said the Japanese authorities could not conclude that the food-poisoning symptoms of two Japanese people resulted from consumption of the bean stuffing from Qingdao Fushijia Food Co., Ltd. in Shandong.     According to the GAQSIQ, the Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare said Dec. 17 that Japan decided to lift import ban on Fushijia's products since the Chinese side had found no quality problem with Fushijia's bean stuffing. The Japanese side had also not discovered any harmful chemical substance in imported products.     Japan banned the import of Fushijia's bean stuffing in September after two employees of a Japanese food producer importing Fushijia's products became ill.

BEIJING, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and visiting Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Wednesday agreed to establish comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations.     Wen told Rasmussen during their talks that both sides shared strong desire to lift the level of the bilateral mutually-beneficial cooperation, since the Sino-Danish relations had become more mature after experiencing 58 years' development.     Denmark was one of the first western nations to recognize the People's Republic of China, and the two peoples enjoyed profound friendship, Wen noted.     China applauded Denmark's adherence to one-China policy, and was ready to work with the country to increase mutual trust, expand cooperation in science, technology, environmental protection, energy, innovation, culture and other areas, he said. The two prime ministers attended the signing ceremony of the agreements.     Rasmussen was here for a six-day official visit to China and for the seventh Asia-Europe Meeting scheduled for Oct. 24-25.

BEIJING, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese leaders offered their Spring Festival greetings to the nation at a gathering to mark the coming Lunar New Year here Saturday.     President Hu Jintao chaired the gathering of more than 4,000 people from various sections of society.     On behalf of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council, Hu, who is general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed festival greetings to all Chinese people and his thanks to the friends of China across the world.     Premier Wen Jiabao, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a speech.     2008 was an extraordinary year for China, in which the country succeeded in fighting the severe winter weather, the May 12 earthquake, in hosting the Beijing Olympics and launching the Shenzhou-7 manned spacecraft and actively coping with the current international financial crisis, he said.     The achievements "demonstrated that no difficulty could defeat the great Chinese people and the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics will be broadened," he said.     The country will embrace the 60th founding anniversary of new China in 2009, Wen said.     Priority should be given to maintaining stable and relatively fast economic growth this year. This will be achieved through expanding domestic demand especially consumption demand, restructuring the economy and transforming the growth pattern, he said.     All will ultimately target maximally satisfying people's increasing material and cultural needs, he added.     In 2009, China will enhance and improve macroeconomic control efforts and carry out an active fiscal policy, as well as a moderately easy monetary policy, he said.     "We have the confidence and the ability to overcome various difficulties and achieve further development," he added.     The government will pool strength of the nation to do some practical things for the people, including expanding employment, improving the social security system, promoting medicare system reform, enhancing development of the cultural industry, and ensuring smooth rebuilding in disaster-hit areas, he said.     The government will also strive to solve people's housing difficulties and to provide satisfactory education that ensures no child drops out of school because of financial difficulties, he said.     Other leaders, including Wu Bangguo, Jia Qinglin, Li Changchun, Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, He Guoqiang and Zhou Yongkang, also attended the gathering.     Spring Festival, or the Chinese Lunar New Year, is the most important traditional Chinese festival of family reunion. CHENGDU, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- China's central government has pledged to help its Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) to cope with the impact of the ongoing international financial crisis.     It was revealed by Vice Premier Li Keqiang when meeting the SAR's Chief Executive Ho Hau Wah in Chengdu, capital of southwest Sichuan Province on Sunday.     Ho arrived here on Sunday, leading a delegation of the SAR to attend the Ninth Western China International Economy and Trade Fair.     The Vice Premier said the central government would give all-out support to the SAR's Chief Executive and government in administration in line with laws. It would actively assist the SAR's government to maintain stability and prosperity of the region.     Li also praised the SAR's government for promoting Macao's exchange and cooperation with the country's inland regions and hoped that Macao could make more contribution to economic construction and development in China's western region.
