SAN DIEGO (KGTV) San Diego Police are investigating the discovery of three bodies found in the trunk of a parked car in Bay Terraces. Police found the bodies in a car parked on Jaime Avenue at Doti Point Drive after a neighbor reported a suspicious vehicle just before five pm Sunday. According to police, the bodies are that of two women and a man, possibly in their late teens or early twenties. They say the bodies were in such poor condition. They were unable to determine race. The medical examiner is working to determine the cause of death and their identities. Neighbors say the car was parked on the street for three days, but that's not uncommon.“A lot of people will park and they will walk to those apartments behind here or they park and they go to someone’s house over here, so it’s not really that suspicious," said Kevin Totten. Totten grew up in the neighborhood. He said it's usually quiet and is home to mainly families."It seems like someone did what they did, to these three innocent people and drove around and was looking for a spot to dump a car with three bodies in it," said Totten. After neighbors started noticing an odor, one of them called police Sunday evening."Once the wind would kind of blow, you can smell like, it’s hard to explain. I’ve never smelled that before. I thought well maybe it was like trash, but then a more pungent odor than that," said one mom who didn't want to be identified.The woman said once police arrived she noticed fluids coming from the car. "Once the police were here and they were kind of looking to see what was going on you could see the car and what looked like blood dripping from it. I’m like do I need counseling? Do my kids need counseling? It’s a lot to take in,” said the woman. Police aren't releasing any information about the investigation. Neighbors say the car was an older model BMW either silver or gray in color. They also said it had out of state plates. "Whomever the victims are, the families, hopefully they can figure who they are and sort of bring closure to them," said the woman. 2085

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego County’s latest arson arrest is shedding light on an issue that can turn both dangerous and deadly in Southern California’s dry climate.Monday, 21-year-old Daniel Reyes Ortega was charged with setting fire to forest land. Ortega reportedly set fire to a dry plot of land located on the 11000 block of SR-67.That fire burned only half an acre, but isn’t the only recent example of just how dangerous arson can be. In early August, Forrest Gordon Clark, 51, was arrested for reportedly starting the Holy Fire in Orange County.RELATED: Man arrested, accused of starting fire off SR-67 in Lakeside  In video captured by 10News, Clark can be seen walking up to firefighters and asking if they stole his money.Following his second arraignment filled with outbursts, Clark was ordered to undergo psychiatric evaluations.During the second arraignment, Clark disrupted proceedings, saying he was innocent and questioning Orange County Superior Court Judge Kimberly Menninger.RELATED: Judge orders psychiatric evaluations for Holy Fire suspect  According to WebMD, psychologists and the FBI have over the years profiled arsonists to try and figure out what causes them to start fires. Though the most common reason for arson is insurance, psychologist Joel Dvoskin says anger also plays a role in a number of other cases.WebMD reports that, according to FBI reports, the majority of profiled arsonists have a below-normal IQ, typically between 70 and 90. Dvoskin told the site, "Honestly, I can't think of a single arsonist I've dealt with for whom anger wasn't the primary motivator."The FBI report further states that half of all arsons are committed by those younger than 18, the other half are typically in their late 20s. Fires started by older people are usually motivated by money. Roughly 90 percent of all arsonists are men who are typically white, the FBI says.  1920

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - San Diegans looking to switch careers or get back to work after coronavirus-caused layoffs have a way to get free job training this summer.San Diego Continuing Education is offering free classes in 75 different areas, many of which are focused on high-demand jobs."During difficult economic times that we are about to enter, short term intensive career education is the way to get America back to work," said SDCE President Dr. Carlos Turner Cortez.Anyone in San Diego is eligible to take the classes. SDCE offers training certificates in healthcare, welding, information technology, cybersecurity, culinary arts, clothing, automotives, and more.For Richard Sanchez, who lost his job during the pandemic, it's a chance to start over after a layoff."I'm already 38 years old," Sanchez said. "To have this opportunity helps people out to get a new job and change your career."According to a recent report by SANDAG, around 460,000 people in San Diego have lost their jobs since March 7. The report says unemployment could be as high as 30%.Dr. Cortez said people who are looking for a job should look into continuing education first."It's incumbent on us to make sure that students who are coming through our program are developing the skills necessary to be successful in these career pathways," he said. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego immigration advocates say they are feeling a sense of hope after the election of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. "I was definitely hopeful that, once again, we’ll have a process of consulting with an administration that wants to do something in regards to immigration versus what I would describe as an iron fist against anyone who’s coming into the country," says Pedro Rios, the director of the American Friends Service Committee.President-elect Biden has already shared some of his immigration related plans once he takes office. Biden has vowed to reinstate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) for children brought to the U.S. by their parents. The former vice president has also said he plans to halt funding for the border wall and reverse the Migrant Protection Protocols, allowing asylum seekers to wait in the United States, instead of Mexico, until their asylum case is heard. During the last presidential debate, Biden also promised a pathway to citizenship during his first 100 days in office. Rios says the passing of that plan would depend on who controls the senate come January. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- San Diego police are investigating how a teenager ended up unconscious near a Walgreens store in Chollas View after her mother reported the girl had been kidnapped.The 13-year-old girl's mother called police shortly after 4 p.m. Monday and said her daughter was supposed to be at a friend’s house, but she later learned her daughter somehow ended up with a man she didn’t know.It is unclear how the woman determined her daughter was with the man.About 20 minutes later, police found the teen unconscious but breathing in the 600 block of Euclid Avenue. She was taken to the hospital, but her condition is unknown.Police said they are looking for the man that was believed with the teen. He is described as Hispanic, in his early 20s, with long hair. He was wearing reading glasses, a white T-shirt and possibly a black baseball cap. 860
