ONTARIO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Police arrested a 16-year-old boy after he reportedly killed a duck with a golf club in Ontario Wednesday, according to ABC 7 in Chicago.The teen shared video that appeared to show him striking the duck. The duck’s remains were later found at the Whispering Lakes Golf Course.The 16-year-old was issued a citation for felony animal abuse after being arrested at his home.Members of the Colony High School golfing team were practicing when one of them said they accidentally hit a duck while teeing off.The boy claims he killed the duck to put it out of its misery, however, police say there may be more to the story due to the video being posted on social media. Police have said the investigation is ongoing. 748

Oceanside’s Flying Pig restaurant had a wait for tables last Friday.On the surface, that sounds like a dream scenario.But owner Roddy Browning says sales just didn't match the demand.“Our capacity is just cut so much, there's just no room for that heavyweight labor when you don't have the capacity,” he said.It's because of social distancing restrictions.Browning recently reopened The Flying Pig and his Vista restaurant - Town Hall Public House - with seating cut in about half.He's working his way back after having to layoff much of his staff when Coronavirus restrictions first took effect. In all Browning had about 60 employees at his two restaurants before COVID.Now, he's hired about 25.He says challenges go beyond the finances.Browning says he and other restaurant owners are having trouble filling jobs in the back of the house.And there have been isolated incidents where people have refused requests to wear masks - taking their money elsewhere.Browning says he wants people to understand why masks are required.As for surviving, Browning says he'll just have to make it work. 1099

One winter afternoon last year, Duane Engebretson sat in his stepdaughter's hospital room at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, trying to figure out how she could escape.Alyssa Gilderhus, 18 and a senior in high school, had been a patient at Mayo for about two months, ever since having a ruptured brain aneurysm on Christmas Day.Mayo neurosurgeons saved her life, but she and her parents were unhappy with the care she was receiving in the rehabilitation unit, and they say they repeatedly asked for her to be transferred.But they say Mayo refused to let her transfer to another hospital, even after a lawyer wrote a letter asking Mayo to make the arrangements.Alyssa and her family began to suspect that Mayo was trying to get a guardian appointed to make medical decisions for her. They were right: Hospital staffers would later tell police that they had gone to two county adult protection agencies to make guardianship arrangements.Duane and his wife, Amber Engebretson, weren't sure how to get their daughter out of Mayo.
