OCEANSIDE (KGTV) -- Oceanside police have closed off a section of a popular shopping center Friday morning after officers shot and killed a man who aimed a gun at them.The shooting happened around 12:15 a.m. Friday in the parking lot of a shopping center located on the 3400 block of Marron Road, near the Kohl's department store.Officers tried to make contact with the man when he pulled out a knife and threatened them.The officers used bean bag shots and a K-9 unit to subdue the suspect but he refused to cooperate, police said.The suspect then pulled out what appeared to be a handgun from his waistband and pointed it toward the officers.Police said that several shots were fired, but it's unclear if the suspect discharged his weapon.Oceanside Police are withholding the man's name until his family is notified of his death. 854

NOVI, Michigan — A Michigan teenager is being held on million bond after he allegedly made a threat on social app Snapchat to shoot up South Lyon High School.Ryan Robert Debruyne, from Green Oak Township, was arraigned on a charge of making a false report or threat of terrorism.WHMI reports Debryne turns 18 years old today, Feb. 21, 2018.His booking photo on the Oakland County Jail's website shows him being booked in jail on Tuesday and held on million bond.According to police, Debruyne sent a Snapchat to another student, asking if he wanted to join him in shooting up the school similar to the one in Florida last week.The school tells us the student informed local authorities of the threat, and police were able to take him into custody.WHMI reports that a probable cause conference is scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 28. 864

(KGTV) - North San Diego County police are searching for a documented gang member they say killed a man outside his home in 2016.Edgar Hernandez Saavedra, 29, was named as the suspect of Miguel Luis Castillo's murder on August 20, 2016, Oceanside Police said.Saavedra was arguing with Castillo outside the man's home in the 800 block of Langford St. at about 2:40 a.m. Police said the argument escalated and Saavedra shot and killed Castillo with a semi-automatic handgun.ORIGINAL REPORT: Man shot, killed in Oceanside; Suspect at largeSince then, Saavedra's whereabouts have been unknown.Police describe Saavedra as a Hispanic male, with brown hair and brown eyes, standing about 5-foot 6-inches tall, and weighing 175 pounds. One hundred and seventy-five former US officials spanning service across intelligence agencies, the State Department, the National Security Council and the Department of Defense added their names on Monday to a list of intelligence officials denouncing President Donald Trump's decision to revoke former CIA Director John Brennan's security clearance."All of us believe it is critical to protect classified information from unauthorized disclosure. But we believe equally strongly that former government officials have the right to express their unclassified views on what they see as critical national security issues without fear of being punished for doing so," the letter states."Our signatures below do not necessarily mean that we concur with the opinions expressed by former CIA Director Brennan or the way in which he expressed them," the group statement added.
