Kentucky and Nevada both announced the first coronavirus-related deaths in their state on Monday.Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said Monday morning that a 66-year-old man from Bourbon County had died. The governor cited "numerous factors" with the man's death in addition to COIVD-19.The total number of cases of COVID-19 in the commonwealth remained at 21. More than 3,000 people are confirmed to have contracted the virus in the United States, and at least 69 people have died.Kentucky is the 12th state to announce a fatality linked to the coronavirus. The Pentagon is currently holding a press briefing. See the video below."This is our duty as Kentuckians, this is our patriotic duty," he said of protecting one another through proper hygiene and social distancing. They also were pushing new hashtags for use on social media: #TeamKentucky #TogetherKY."I know that there is anxiety out there" Beshear said. "I know a lot of it is spread through social media."Also on Monday, the Southern Nevada Health District said a man in his 60s with underlying health issues had died of COVID-19.“We must continue to emphasize how important it is to protect those who are most vulnerable to the impacts of the virus and urge our community to support the public health measures and recommendations that are in place,” said Dr. Fermin Leguen, Acting Chief Health Officer of the Southern Nevada Health District..The announcements came the day after Oregon announced its first death linked to the coronavirus pandemic. It has been nearly a month since 20 Democrats met for the first debate to vie for the party’s nomination in next year’s presidential election. On Tuesday and Wednesday, 20 Democrats will once again take the stage, this time in Detroit. What is differentWhile there will be 20 Democrats on the stage -- 10 each night -- one Democrat has since dropped out of the race. Rep. Eric Swalwell of California ended his bid for the presidency earlier this month. His spot on the debate stage has since been filled by Montana Gov. Steve Bullock. With this debate being aired on CNN, there will be a different set of moderators. Don Lemon, Dana Bash and Jake Tapper will conduct the debate. Unlike last month’s Miami debate, CNN has told the candidates that there will be no “show of hands or one-word, down-the-line questions.” Also different, CNN has threatened to reduce the time of candidates who are constantly interrupting. What is the sameCandidates will be given 60 seconds to answer and 30 seconds for follow ups. The requirements to qualify for the debate also remained the same, and was based off of polling and fundraising criteria.Biden back as frontrunnerVice President Joe Biden’s lead took a bit of a hit in the days following the last debate thanks to a contentious confrontation from Sen. Kamala Harris of California. Harris’ emotional rebuke of Biden’s stance on public school busing in the 70s was easily the most memorable moment of the night. It also seemed to have, at least temporarily, cut into Biden’s lead. Polls from CNN and Quinnipiac University had Biden’s polling as low as 22 percent. Harris, for her part, saw her numbers increase to above 10 percent. Biden has seen his polling number return to near 30 percent. Harris, however, has continued to poll above 10 percent, indicating that she perhaps draw some support from some of the other candidates. Biden and Harris are the two center-stage candidates for the July 31 debate. But Harris might not be Biden’s biggest concern on Wednesday. Sen. Cory Booker and Biden have been involved in a spat in recent days over criminal justice reform. Booker called Biden “an architect of mass incarceration.” This is over Biden’s support for the 1994 Crime Bill. Warren/Sanders showdownSens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are generally allies in the Senate, but on Tuesday, they will square off on stage. The two senators are vying for the support of the liberal wing of the party.Sanders and Warren have been contending for No. 2 in polling. Is it quite possible that Tuesday’s debate will consist of the moderators trying to find some daylight between the two candidates. Both candidates make income inequality a central theme of their campaigns. Both are strong proponents of Medicare-for-all. Both support increasing the national minimum wage. How candidates qualifiedTo qualify for the second round of debates, candidates had to fulfill one of two criteria: either get 65,000 donors to their campaigns, with at least 200 donors in 20 different states, or obtain at least 1% in three polls recognized as legitimate by the committee. Here are the candidates: On July 30, these candidates will be on stage: 3186

In like a lion, out like a lion?Don't let this weather April Fool you, after a warm weekend in many parts of the US, temperatures are dipping dramatically. From St. Louis to New York, millions of Americans enjoyed barbecues, beaches and parks with temperatures reaching into the 60s and 70s. Even parts of Alaska reached 70 degrees on Saturday -- the earliest in the year anywhere in the state has hit that high. But here's hoping the tulips and the sprinkler systems haven't yet made their way back into your yard as temperatures will be falling rapidly across large swaths of the country.By Monday morning temperatures are expected to drop so dramatically that over 20 million people from Arkansas to North Carolina will be under a freeze warning.Northeast likely to experience most dramatic changeCNN meteorologist Michael Guy expects a stunning reversal of temperatures for April 1 -- ranging from 10-20 degrees below average for this time of year.Guy says the most extreme drops are forecast to be in the Northeast, with New York City dropping from Sunday's 65 degree high to a forecast 46 degrees, Boston falling from 70 to 45 degrees and Washington DC from 64 to 45 degrees. The cold snap is due to a strong cold front moving in and the battle between warm versus cold air this time of year, he says. Most people in the Northeast, mid-South and Midwest will see highs in the 40s and the 50s.That means a city like Pittsburgh, after reveling in a high of 67 Saturday, will fall back to earth with temperatures in the upper 30s on Sunday. As the United States wakes up Monday, many of us will be trading out our flip flops for a closed toe and pulling our winter jackets back out of the storage closet. This is only temporary, however, as some part of the South are expected to bounce back to spring by Wednesday with Atlanta seeing temperatures of nearly 80 by next weekend. 1886

In an interview with CNN, CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield said that coronavirus could be around for the entire duration of 2020 as the CDC prepares for the possibility of a widespread infection. This comes as the CDC says that the risk to the general public is low. While thousands have been infected in China, there have been only 15 confirmed cases in the United States. Although Redfield expects there is a possibility of it becoming a "community virus," aggressively monitoring those with suspected and confirmed cases buys the CDC time. The time is needed as Redfield told CNN that not much is known about how coronavirus is spread, and how to treat it. "The containment phase is really to give us more time. The virus will become a community virus at some point in time, this year or next year," Redfield told CNN. "We don't have any evidence that this coronavirus is really embedded in the community at this time, but with that said, we want to intensify our surveillance so that we're basing those conclusions based on data."Making things more challenging for Redfield, he said, is that it's possible for someone infected with coronavirus to not display symptoms. "What I've learned in the last two weeks is that the spectrum of this illness is much broader than was originally presented. There's much more asymptomatic illness," Redfield said. "A number of the confirmed cases that we confirmed actually just presented with a little sore throat."Click 1475
