RICHMOND, Va. -- Some parents and teachers use coloring books to educate kids. Mark Loewen created a coloring book series that celebrates LGBTQ families and educates others about them."One day I was looking for coloring books and I wanted something positive," Loewen said. "Something that was about families. And there was nothing at all that had families like ours." WTVR Mark Loewen created a coloring book series that celebrates LGBTQ families and educates others about them. According to U.S. Census data, 66% of female same-sex couples and 44% of male same-sex couples live with children.Fewer than half of kids younger than 18 are living in a home with two married heterosexual parents in their first marriage, so two moms and two dads can reference stepparents as well."The image of one mom, one dad, one son, one daughter, one cat, one dog is not at all the majority," Loewen said.He came up with the idea for the coloring book after his daughter told him kids had questions about her living with two dads. He will be the first to tell you that a coloring book like this might not be for everyone. WTVR Mark Loewen created a coloring book series that celebrates LGBTQ families and educates others about them. "I think of two kinds of families that would want a coloring book of LGBTQ families. One, the families that have LGBTQ family members, because they can see themselves. And number two, the families that want their child to be exposed to families that are different to theirs," he said."It's awesome!” mother Chrissy Moseley said. “The moment she picked it up she was excited because she saw that she was like, 'Look mommy, there are two moms in here. There are two dads.'""Parents need to make their kids aware that love is love in any form it wants to be," Chrissy’s wife Brenda said.Coloring outside the lines, in all colors of the rainbow, is Building Better Minds. This story was first reported by Rob Cardwell at WTVR in Richmond, Virginia. 2050

Russia's Foreign Ministry ordered the expulsion of 23 British diplomats from Russia on Saturday in a tit-for-tat response to Britain's decision to expel Russian envoys in connection with the poisoning of a former Russian double agent and his daughter on British soil. The ministry also declared it was closing the British Consulate General in St. Petersburg and the British Council in Russia, in a step beyond the measures taken by Britain. The British Council is a cultural institute with artistic, language and educational programs. 541

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) -- California leaders are considering making voting by mail a permanent option for all registered voters. This year, the state required county elections officials to mail a ballot to all registered voters ahead of the election, for an extra cost of about million. The goal was to have fewer people vote in person because of the coronavirus.Nearly 60% of registered voters cast ballots before Election Day. Now, the state's Democratic leaders are considering making it a permanent option.Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins and Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon have endorsed the idea. Lawmakers would have to figure out how to pay for it. 672

Roger Stone associate Jerome Corsi said Monday he expects to be indicted by special counsel Robert Mueller for "giving false information to the special counsel or to one of the other grand jury."Corsi made the comment during his streaming show on YouTube."And now I fully anticipate that the next few days, I will be indicted by Mueller for some form or other of giving false information to the special counsel or to one of the other grand jury or however they want to do the indictment. But I'm going to be criminally charged," Corsi said Monday.Corsi's lawyer declined to comment.Corsi could face any number of charges -- spanning from perjury to making false claims to obstruction of justice. The potential charges are related to false statements he made about his relationship with WikiLeaks and Stone.Corsi has been involved in Mueller's investigation for roughly two months and had already been subpoenaed for documents and testimony before the grand jury, and he complied with both.Corsi's role in the investigation largely revolves around the possibility that he was an intermediary between Stone and WikiLeaks.During the 2016 campaign, Stone publicly bragged about having "backchannel communications" with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, and on several occasions appeared to predict the WikiLeaks releases that roiled the race in the final stretch of the campaign. But in the two years since Trump's victory, Stone has walked back those claims and said his "backchannel" was merely New York radio host Randy Credico sharing information about his interviews with Assange. Credico denies serving as an intermediary between the two.Investigators have been skeptical of Stone's explanation. CNN has reported that?Mueller's team is examining the possibility that Stone had another intermediary beyond Credico, and that Corsi might have been involved.Corsi injected himself into Stone's situation last year when he claimed that one of his own articles for InfoWars inspired Stone to predict in October 2016 that there would be trouble coming for Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. Not long after that, WikiLeaks started releasing thousands of Podesta's hacked emails.Stone denies that he ever told Trump about WikiLeaks' dumps before they became public. He also denies colluding with Russia.The-CNN-Wire 2331

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Gavin Newsom is the favorite in California's governor's race, and if he's elected his extensive business holdings could present an ethics problem. His company, PlumpJack Group, owns wineries, bars, restaurants, hotels and liquor stores that operate in California. Issues involving the hospitality industry often come before the governor.Newsom is adamant he won't sell his interests but otherwise is deferring decisions about how to handle potential ethics conflicts until after the election.RELATED: John Cox, Gavin Newsom battle it out in debateThe potential for blurred lines between business and government service has become especially resonant since President Donald Trump broke with tradition for U.S. presidents and chose not to divest from his extensive holdings.Republican candidate John Cox also is a millionaire with extensive holdings, but his businesses operate outside California.RELATED: Republican gubernatorial candidate John Cox's plan for California 1012
