DEL MAR, Calif. (KGTV) -- A plan meant to increase safety along Del Mar's famous coastal bluffs is being met with deep resistance by residents, surfers and walkers.North County Transit District says it has obtained grants to fund building a fence to protect the train tracks on the bluffs. It would aim to end 100 years of people illegally crossing the tracks to get down to the beach or take in the views.The district says it would help prevent erosion and increase safety - six people have been hit by trains in Del Mar in the last two years. RELATED: Del Mar bluff collapses for second time since AugustThe Del Mar City Council will discuss the proposal at its meeting Monday. "They put a fence up there it's not going to stop me," said Chris Gable, a longtime Del Mar surfer. "I understand it's a safety hazard since they're upping the frequency of the trains, but I don't think it's going to go over well."Del Mar Mayor Dwight Worden said the fencing is an overreaction. DETROIT - The bodies of 11 infants were found in the ceiling of a former funeral home on Detroit's east side Friday evening, according to Detroit Police. Police say the bodies were found in a box and in a small casket. Cadaver dogs were on scene, and in all police found the 11 bodies of infants and stillborns. The Cantrell Funeral Home was shut down earlier this year due to several violations and "deplorable, unsanitary conditions." Police say a tip through the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) sparked the investigation. LARA reported Cantrell Funeral Home had 60 days to either assign its existing prepaid contracts to another person registered under the Prepaid Act and notify the Department and contract buyers of the assignment within 30 days of the assignment.The funeral home's other option was to cancel their current contracts and issue refunds to each contract buyer, providing copies of refund checks and correspondence to each contract buyer to the Department within 90 days, unless the Department modifies, vacates, or extends the terms of the Order.A spokesperson from LARA has released this statement regarding their investigation: 1228

DESCANSO, Calif. (KGTV) - Four people were seriously injured and one person is in custody following a pursuit with Border Patrol agents on Interstate 8 in East San Diego County Tuesday.Border Patrol said a blue Ford Expedition failed to yield to a marked vehicle just before 11 a.m. on I-8 near Buckman Springs Rd. The vehicle continued on, at one point reaching over 100 miles per hour, and lost control as it approached slower moving traffic. The Ford then careened off I-8 near Japatul Valley Rd., rolling down a ravine and landing on its roof.Two passengers, who were unrestrained, were ejected from the vehicle and sustained major injuries. Two other passengers sustained minor to moderate injuries. All four were taken to Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego and Sharp Memorial Hospital.The driver of the car, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen, was uninjured and tried to flee from the crash, Border Patrol said, but he was quickly apprehended and placed in Border Patrol custody.Three of the four passengers are Mexican nationals, according to Border Patrol. DALLAS (AP) — Ten states have brought a lawsuit against Google, accusing the search giant of “anti-competitive conduct” in the online advertising industry including a deal to manipulate sales with rival Facebook. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton says Google is using its “monopolistic power” to control the pricing on online advertisements, fixing the market in its favor and eliminating its competition. Google is calling the suit “meritless” and says the price of online advertising has fallen over the last decade. According to records released by Paxton's office, Texas is suing along with Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, North Dakota, South Dakota and Utah. 698

But this year, the command is making sure the coronavirus won’t sideline the fabled Santa Claus from delivering gifts around the world. This is the 65th year for the U.S.-Canadian operation that has tracked the jolly old man since a child mistakenly called the base asking to speak to Santa. Air Force Gen. Glen D. VanHerck says he's confident that Santa Claus knows how to stay safe. He says even a pandemic won't disrupt Santa’s schedule.
