(AP) — Apple is introducing a cheaper version of its smartwatch, its latest attempt to broaden the appeal of its trend-setting products while more consumers are forced to scrimp during ongoing fallout from the pandemic. Apple took the wraps off the new discount watch in addition to a new high-end model, a next-generation iPad and a new subscription service during a virtual event held Tuesday. SAN MARCOS, Calif. (KGTV) - A local portable toilet rental company is charged with tampering with equipment on its trucks to skirt emissions regulations. Employees also allegedly faked some of the smog test results.Team 10 Investigative Reporter Jennifer Kastner went to San Marcos’ Diamond Environmental Services on Friday afternoon, but was asked to leave. 10News was looking for answers to the alarming accusations that the company and some of its employees were committing crimes against the environment. Part of a video on the company’s website states, “Diamond's dedication to doing the right thing goes above and beyond.” Yet prosecutors say Diamond was preparing false smog test results to get passing results. Additionally, executives were allegedly tampering with emission control devices on its diesel truck fleet, re-programming the emission monitoring devices to avoid extra costs that come with burning off dirty, soot-filled diesel filters. Ed Rodriguez is the owner of Auto Park Smog in Escondido. He says, “If you’ve ever seen a vehicle going down the road, like a truck, and it has black smoke coming out of it, that’s all soot and that's not good.” Rodriguez says he's worked on Diamond's smaller trucks but not the ones that are part of this new six count federal indictment. The U.S. Attorney’s Office claims that Diamond took the devices out of trucks and shipped them out of California to be re-programmed. SANDUSKY, Ohio - Luggage lost in the wind with a Sandusky, Ohio man's supply of life-saving medication inside.Alvin Rogers was taking the Greyhound bus from Sandusky to Pensacola, Florida in September. His headache started in Atlanta."They were telling me I couldn't go to Pensacola because of the storm," said Rogers.Rogers' insulin pens, similar to the medicine he lost in the bags that can't be found by Greyhound. Hurricane Florence delayed Rogers, but while he was stuck, Alvin was told his three bags were sent to Pensacola on another bus."I said, 'Well, how can my luggage go to Pensacola in a storm and I can't," asked Rogers. "I mean, it's still gotta be on the bus."That was the first time Rogers was separated from his bags and the thousands of dollars worth of medicine that he needed for an extended trip. When Rogers finally got to Pensacola a day later, the bags were nowhere to be found."So I had to wind up buying a plane ticket to get back to Ohio so I could get my doctors to get me some more meds," said Rogers.Rogers' bus and plane tickets bringing him to Pensacola, Florida and back to Ohio.A month later, back in Sandusky, Rogers still doesn't have his bags even after constant calls from Roger's roommate, Karin Lucas."A fiasco," said Lucas, describing when she calls Greyhound. "I get transferred constantly. Representatives pass the buck."Rogers and Lucas say when they reach out to Greyhound for help, they're surprised when a live person is on the other end of the line.Lucas says they could get 0 for each of the three lost bags through the Greyhound claim process. But the emergency plane ticket was nearly 0 itself. The original Greyhound ticket was about 0, including the extra money Rogers paid to get help loading and unloading the luggage and Rogers can't get that money back."For all the good it did, I still wound up losing everything," said Rogers.Roger's claim form identifies ,000 worth of medicine and personal items lost in the bags."Everything he owns was in those bags because he planned on relocating," said Lucas.Lucas says when she reaches out to Greyhound for help, she gets nowhere."For them to be as nonchalant about the situation is really really sad," said Lucas.The Cleveland Greyhound Station, where Rogers says his bags might arrive if they are ever found.Greyhound said they are still looking for the bags. Even once they are found, Alvin says he'll likely have to pick up his bags at the bus station in Cleveland or one of Ohio's other bigger cities. Rogers said he's been told Greyhound won't deliver bags to smaller pickup spots like Sandusky.Back in April, a bizarre Greyhound trip left Cleveland for New York City before turning around before a problem with the bus. SANTEE, Calif. (KGTV)— A Santee family is praying for recovery and justice, as their mother remains on life-support. She was the victim of a hit-and-run crash Wednesday night. 10News spoke to Richard Johnson. His mother Julie Johnson and sister in law, Jayme Morton-Johnson were the victims of the hit-and-run.According to Richard Johnson, Wednesday at around 8 pm, they heard a commotion outside their home. Johnson said Julie ran outside and saw a neighbor boy getting beaten by three teenage boys.  Julie's other son, Robert, who is also Jayme's husband, says he was making dinner when his mother called him outside because of the altercation.  Robert stepped in to help break up the fight. They, and a neighbor, were able to put an end to it, but the teens ran into the car. “(Julie) always had a heart out for people are hurt or hears somebody in need, she acts right away, and that’s what she did," Richard Johnson said of his mother. As the suspects made their get-away, they sped onto the curb, hit the women, and flung them onto the street. “Jayme rolled off the side of the car with little injury," Johnson said. "And my mom flew off the car, and the impact was deadly. “Jayme was released from the hospital Thursday."The only thing I recall is seeing that drivers eyes and him hitting us and that’s when we grabbed each other, and by no means do I see it being an accident," she said.Jayme is expected to make a full recovery. Julie Johnson was not so lucky. The impact sent her flying 40 feet. Her brain is now non-responsive. An oxygen machine is the only thing keeping her alive. San Diego County Sheriffs Department said within two hours, they found the get-away car at Sonrise Community Church just two miles south of the crash. The owner of the vehicle then turned in one of the passengers, a 16-year-old boy, who was booked into juvenile hall for Felony hit-and-run. The two other teens have not been arrested. "I just want them to turn themselves in and give justice to my mother in law," Jayme said.“An irresponsible decision can end somebody’s life," Johnson said. While Johnson and his family wait for an arrest, they also pray. They said that is the only thing that may save their matriarch."The only thing they can do is hope from God that she will come back," Johnson said. "I’ve been praying that he’ll give her a chance.
