Coca-Cola will soon be giving Japanese consumers a new kind of buzz.In a departure from its traditional soda business, Coke plans to launch an alcoholic drink in Japan this year. It's trying to get in on the growing market for "chu-hi" -- canned, flavored drinks typically made with sparkling water and shochu, a Japanese spirit distilled from grains.The new drink is a "highly Japan-specific approach given the complexity and richness" of Coke's range of products in the country, Coke spokesperson Yohko Okabe told CNN on Wednesday.The company declined to give further details on the plans, but in a recent blog post, the president of Coca-Cola Japan said the drink would be "unique" in Coke's history."We haven't experimented in the low alcohol category before," Jorge Gardu?o said in the post.The storied soft drinks company is set to enter a crowded market. Big Japanese beverage makers like Kirin and Suntory already produce popular "chu-hi" drinks.Brewing up an alcoholic beverage is just Coke's latest Japanese experiment.The country is one of the company's most competitive and fast changing markets. It says it launches about 100 new products there every year.Other big global brands have tried unusual things to cater to Japanese consumers' palates. Nestlé opened a factory last year in Japan to meet the growing demand for weirdly flavored KitKat bars.Coke has dabbled in alcohol in the past, buying wine businesses in the US in the 1970s. COATZACOALCOS, Mexico (AP) — Gang members burst into a bar, blocked all the exits and then started a fire that killed 26 people and injured about a dozen others, Mexican officials said Wednesday.Authorities said the attack in the Gulf coast city of Coatzacoalcos late Tuesday apparently was overseen by a man who had been recently arrested but released."The criminals went in, closed the doors, the emergency exits, and set fire to the place," President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said at his daily morning news conference.Veracruz state police said the attack targeted the "Bar Caballo Blanco," or "White Horse Bar." It advertised "quality, security and service," private rooms for .50 "all night," ''sexy girls" and a pole dance contest.It is located just off a busy commercial street in Coatzacoalcos, a city whose main industry has long been oil and oil refining.On Wednesday afternoon, relatives of the victims gathered anxiously outside state prosecutors' offices with photos that could be used to identify their loved ones.Those who had confirmation sat weeping in plastic chairs.Vanessa Galindo Blas, 32, said her husband died in the fire. She sat shouting: "He didn't deserve this. Why did they do this to me? I don't to be here. I want to be with you."She said her 29-year-old husband, Erick Hernández Galindo, worked as the DJ in the bar and left behind three children.Among the dead were two Filipino sailors. Ramón Guzman, the agent for the ship Caribe Lisa, brought the passports for the two men who were on leave and had been unaccounted for."This is the most inhuman thing possible," López Obrador said."It is regrettable that organized crime acts in this manner," he said, adding, "It is more regrettable that there may be collusion with authorities."López Obrador said local prosecutors should be investigated because "the alleged perpetrators had been arrested, but they were freed."Gov. Cuitláhuac García identified the chief suspect as a man known as "La Loca" and gave his name as Ricardo "N'' because officials no longer give the full names of suspects.García said the man had been detained by marines in July, but was released after being turned over to the state prosecutor's office."In Veracruz, criminal gangs are no longer tolerated," García wrote of the attack, adding that police, the armed forces and newly formed National Guard are searching for the attackers.In an interview with Milenio TV, García said that 23 people had died in the bar and three more had succumbed to their injuries afterward. It was one of the first states where López Obrador deployed the country's new National Guard in April after 13 people were killed during a party in Minatitlan, 12 miles (20 kilometers) from Coatzalcoalcos.More recently, in early August, nine dismembered bodies were found in bags in the town of Maltrata.According to the most recent government data, there are 2,500 guardsmen patrolling the state. Now the company is defending the initiative, and calling it something much more mundane: A "corporate news journalistic responsibility promotional campaign."Sinclair, America's largest operator of local TV stations, is in the spotlight after a controversial promo video went viral over the weekend.Some staffers say they're embarrassed by the promos and concerned about their own credibility as journalists. A few local anchors and reporters are even reacting publicly, risking the ire of management.But Sinclair senior vice president of news Scott Livingston is defending the promos as a "well-researched journalistic initiative focused on fair and objective reporting."In an internal memo obtained by CNNMoney, Livingston slammed what he called "misleading, often defamatory stories" about the company. Some of the language echoes President Trump's anti-media messaging. CLEVELAND — On Friday, WEWS talked to Len Honacki, a Cleveland man who was waiting on his heart medication after a United States Postal Service delay.“I was a little worried how long I can go without before I call the doctor and say ‘Hey what’s going on and what do I need to do?'” he said.Tracking records show that his medicine had been to Cincinnati, Washington D.C., and Maryland.“The post office had a series of mishaps," he said.When Alicia Rauckhorst, the Northern Ohio marketing manager for USPS, learned of Honacki’s issue, she decided to take matters into her own hands.“Somewhere in there, inadvertently, it got sent to Maryland,” she said. “As soon as it got back, no matter where it was, I was going to let him know.”She called Honacki herself.“She called me just to apologize and she said ‘I will do whatever it takes to find your meds and I would get it to you,’” he said. “When someone says ‘I'll drive to Cincinnati 4 hours and pick it up and bring it 4 hours back.’ To me, I mean, come on, that’s above and beyond.”Luckily, Rauckhorst made sure his meds arrived in Cleveland Saturday night and Sunday morning she made a special delivery.“I went up there and picked up the package called it when I had it in hand and said ‘Hey, I’m on my way to your house to bring you this medicine.’”Honacki was shocked.“She comes to the front door and delivers the mail right to me. CINCINNATI — It has been nearly two weeks since media reports first raised then swatted down the prospect of a Target Corp. merger with the Kroger Co.And what have we learned?
