However, health experts say we'll need them to achieve herd immunity and get back to a more normal life.“There's really a deep empathy for the hesitancy people are feeling. This is a big deal. It's normal to have questions about what's going on and we just want people to get the information they can to make empowered choices for them and their families, so we can really get back to what matters most for each and every one of us,” said Michelle Hillman, Campaign Development Officer at The Advertising Council.The Ad Counsel is the agency behind decades of important messages like "friends don't let friends drive drunk."Now, they are working on likely one of the most important campaigns of this generation, convincing people to take a COVID-19 vaccine.Right now, it's in the early stages of research and won't roll out on TV, radio and online until early next year when a vaccine is more widely available. But you can expect a lot of different spokespeople from doctors and pharmacists, to athletes and musicians.“The messenger in this case is going to be even more important in some ways than the actual message itself,” said Hillman.There will also be variations of the COVID-19 vaccine campaign to address specific groups, like communities of color. They've been more severely impacted by the virus and tend to have more vaccine hesitancy. So, partnerships in the messaging will be important.“We know that you know these on the community level people are already turning to churches and nonprofits and trusted messengers on issues like health care, hope, inspiration and all of them are really going to have to be messengers on this important campaign to break through to get people the information they need,” said Hillman.According to recent Pew research, only about 60% of adults say they would get a vaccine. Thomson International issued a voluntary recall Saturday for thousands of pounds of onions due to possible salmonella contamination.The recall includes red, yellow, white and sweet yellow varieties.The recall came a day after the CDC issued a food safety alert for onions produced by the company after nearly 400 people from 34 states had been sickened with salmonella. Fifty-nine of those who were sickened were hospitalized.According to the CDC's food alert, red onions are most likely the cause of the outbreak, but because of the way the onions are grown and harvested, other types may have been contaminated.According to the FDA, the onions were sold in mesh sacks as small as two pounds and in cartons as large as 50 pounds. They were shipped to grocery stores in all 50 states and Canada on May 1, and were sold under a variety of brand names.The CDC recommends throwing away all onions from Thomson International or its associated brands. If it's unclear who grew the onions, the CDC also recommends throwing them away.The agency also recommends cleaning and sanitizing any surfaces that may have come into contact with the onions, including countertops, refrigerator drawers, knives and cutting boards.Restaurant goers should also ask where establishments got their onions, and not order any meals with onions if it's unclear where they were produced.Salmonella usually presents with fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. Thousands are expected to honor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg at the Supreme Court building in Washington on Wednesday as her casket arrives for three days of public mourning in the nation's capital.Ginsburg's casket will arrive at the Supreme Court building at 9:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday morning. Ginsburg's family, close friends and colleagues will then attend a private ceremony in the Great Hall of the Supreme Court.Following the ceremony, Ginsburg will lie in repose at the top of the building's grand outdoor staircase and under its iconic portico. Thousands of mourners are expected to pay respects to Ginsburg Wednesday and Thursday.Ginsburg — the second woman ever appointed to the high court — will be the first female justice to lie in repose at the Supreme Court.After two days at the Supreme Court, Ginsburg's casket will be moved to the Capitol Building, where she will be the first woman to lie in state there.Ginsburg will be buried at Arlington National Ceremony in a private ceremony early next week.Throughout her distinguished legal career and nearly three decades on the court, Ginsburg was a tireless advocate for woman's rights and earned celebrity status as "The Notorious RBG" late in life.President Donald Trump has said he will nominate Ginsburg's replacement on Saturday. There's a new program aimed at helping Black and Latinx students succeed.The Equity in Education Initiative was built through a partnership between Walmart and North Carolina A&T State University.The program acknowledges many of these students start at a disadvantage, because they go through under-funded school districts.“These students are coming in sometimes with academic gaps that are due to no fault of their own. It's not a difference in ability, it's just a difference in their zip code,” said Kevin James, Dean of the Deese College of Business and Economics at North Carolina A&T.The program is broken up into four focus areas, addressing specific needs of different students. They include financial resources and mentorship while in school, and then network building to create career opportunities their white counterparts may already have.“So many people actually obtain their jobs through networks, because they know someone who knows someone, and many of these students, most of them come in without those built in networks and their families don't have those networks,” said James.The hope is that the positive effects of the program will extend outside of school, allowing successful students to invest and give back.“It's not just about the impact on the student. It's about multi-generational impact on families and about extending those impacts into communities that often times have been under resourced,” said James.Some parts of the program, like the Black Male Initiative, will make resources automatically available to students.There will be an application process for the Leadership Cohort and scholarships.The program starts early next year. 1683
There will be two new headquarters for Amazon, with 25,000 people in each location.Amazon has not announced which two cities the headquarters will be in, but that information is expected later this week, according to?the Wall Street Journal.The HQ2 split will happen because of a lack of technology talent.It has been more than a year since the company sought proposals from cities desiring to be home to the headquarters.
