An online predator who WPIX first exposed six months ago is still prowling the internet, targeting middle aged women.WPIX was contacted last month by his latest victim. She is too frightened to reveal her identity but she wants to tell her story as a warning to others.She met him a few months ago on Tagged, one of many dating sites that are free to join. He told her his name was Kevin Brown. He also calls himself "Big Daddy."Those are the same names he used in January, when WPIX first reported about his scam, sometimes called catfishing. In that incident, he used the dating site POF (Plenty of Fish) and scammed the woman out of more than 0.As reported then, WPIX learned the man is a career criminal. His real name is Kevin Beamon. He’s served 21 years in prison for attempted kidnapping, robbery, and grand larceny.Released just three years ago, he now scams trusting women on dating sites, gaining their trust, then asking for money.With this latest victim, after seeing her profile on Tagged, he reached out, said he liked her picture and began romancing her with frequent texts and phone calls and posting pictures of himself with his mother, friends, and his dog.“He seemed sincere. He seemed honest. He’s very good at what he does and I’m too trusting," she said.He told her he was an NYPD officer and asked her to come with him on a boat trip with some of his fellow cop friends. She said yes, but was surprised when he then told her he was short on cash and asked her to wire him 0 for her ticket. She did.Soon he asked for 5 to buy her ticket to see "Pretty Woman" on Broadway for his upcoming birthday. It was only when he requested 0 to help buy food for adult daughter, that she began to get suspicious.“I said I don’t have it and he said he’d have to find some other way and he abruptly hung up on me,” she said.Still, she agreed to meet him at what he said was his condo in Jersey City the day of the supposed boat ride. She says the place seemed as if no one was living there.He then told her it was his friend’s place, then said it belonged to his sister. When she asked about the dog picture online, her told her there was no dog and he didn’t have any details about the boat tripShe suspected something was wrong,“I said 'this is a farce. You’re lying. I want my money back.' He said 'I don’t have your money.' I said 'well I gotta go.'”She says when she stood up from the dining room table and began to walk toward the door, “I had on a denim shirt and he grabbed the sleeve and started to pull on my arm. I started to scream ‘let me go, let me go’, but he wouldn’t let go.“She grabbed a bottle of Windex on the kitchen counter and sprayed it in his eyes."He loosened his grip and I was able to get away.”She ran out the door, jumped in her car, and drove around the block, where the stopped and called the Jersey City Police Department.Two officers arrived and questioned each of them separately. Apparently, Beamon told them that they were outside and she had never been inside the condo. She says she could have proven that’s a lie by describing the inside of the apartment, but the police never asked.He also said Beamon reeked of Windex, another indication she was telling the truth.She says the male police officer told her to cut her losses since she hadn’t lost that much money and suggested she drop the whole thing. His female partner told her this was a bad part of New Jersey and she should leave and never come back again.“I wanted them to take him into the precinct for questioning, “ she says, but that didn’t happen. When she got home, still shaking from fright, she posted Beamon’s picture on another internet dating site as a warning. Someone told her they’d seen the guy on WPIX.She found our report online and says she felt embarrassed and ashamed she too had fallen for his scam. But she also feels relieved.“I didn’t know if I was going to die," she said. Ananya Vinay, the 2017 Scripps National Spelling Bee champion, has had quite a year.It started with confetti cannons on stage after she spelled "marocain" correctly. Then she made the rounds: talk shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live and other media appearances.She rode in a limo to the Golden State Warriors' final basketball game of last season, and got to see the trophy presentation when her team won the championship."It was really exciting," she said.She also toured the Google campus, got a rally at her school and had a day named in her honor by the governor of California. An armed robber at a south side Chicago hot dog stand accidentally shot himself in the genitals during his escape, according to the Chicago Tribune.According to the Tribune, 19-year-old Terrion Pouncy robbed the Original Maxwell Street Polish around 6 a.m. Tuesday.As he ran away, Pouncy tried to put the gun in his pants. It went off, according to the Tribune, shooting him in the genitals and the thigh. He eventually called 911 to report he had been shot.He was taken to the hospital and charged with two counts of armed robbery with a firearm. 570

An Uber driver in Arizona said he pulled up to give a ride Easter morning and ended up with an AR-15 assault rifle in his face. Edward Martinez said two men called for a ride and while he waited at the curb, a third man came out of the house with no shirt and a gun. "He points it at me and says, 'call 9-1-1,"' said Martinez. Not knowing what was happening, Martinez started dialing and talking to the 9-1-1 dispatcher, and the guy with the gun went back inside. In the meantime, he said the two riders got in his car and told him not to worry about the guy with the gun. About that time, the man with the gun returned. "That's when he put a round in the chamber," said Martinez. "The [passenger] door was open... and then he had the weapon, it was about [half way] in the car, and I just took off."Martinez drove to a Quick Trip. He said his passengers tossed something out the window on the way and disappeared when he parked to wait for El Mirage police. An El Mirage officer ended up arresting the armed man, 25-year-old Nicholas Brasseur. Police searched his home and wrote in the police report that they found drugs and 25 AR-15 assault rifles.  "My profession is manufacturing AR-15s," Brasseur told the court at his initial appearance. The judge informed him that he would not be allowed to continue working with weapons or be in possession of any weapons while awaiting a resolution to the charges, which include aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and possessing or using a weapon during a drug offense.       Martinez said he reported the incident to Uber but has not received a followup call. "I'm missing work. Where's any concern? What can we do to help you? Do you need to see a counselor? Or any of that kind of stuff," said Martinez. Meanwhile, he says he doesn't know if he'll ever drive again. "Not today, not the next day," said Martinez. "Why would I want to put my life [at risk] and lose my life. Andrea Constand, the key witness in the retrial of Bill Cosby on indecent assault charges, testified Friday morning that she drank wine and took three blue pills at Cosby's urging in January 2004, then lost consciousness and, sometime later, was "jolted awake" to find the entertainer sexually assaulting her."Were you able to verbalize and tell him to stop?" state prosecutor Kristen Feden asked Constand."No," she replied. "I wanted it to stop. I couldn't say anything. I was trying to get my hands to move, my legs to move and the message just wasn't getting there. I was weak, I was limp and I couldn't fight him off.""I was really humiliated. I was in shock. And I was really confused," Constand added.Constand's testimony came on the ninth day of Cosby's retrial on three charges of aggravated indecent assault. He has pleaded not guilty.Leading up to Constand's recollection of the alleged assault, the former Temple University employee traced her relationship with Cosby, whom she said she met while handling operations of the school's women's basketball team. Cosby was an active Temple alumnus.Constand offered brief details of seven social encounters she had with Cosby before the alleged assault, including one in which she said he put his hand on her thigh and another when she said he tried to "unbutton my button on my pants.""I mentioned that I wasn't here for that, and he respectfully stopped and we never talked about it again," Constand said of the latter incident. "He got the picture."After that encounter -- but before the early 2004 incident -- "I had no question about my ability to fend off a person that was hitting on me or making a sexual advance on me," Constand testified.Constand began her testimony Friday as prosecutors this week opened their case: by acknowledging that Cosby paid Constand .38 million as part of a civil settlement.
