BEIJING, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) - China will deliver humanitarian aid worth 10 million yuan (1.48 million U.S. dollars) to flood-ravaged Pakistan, China's Ministry of Commerce (MOC) announced Sunday.The charitable assistance was offered to help Pakistan' s government fight the flooding and rescue victims, the MOC said in a brief statement posted on its website.The Pakistan government kicked off an emergency rescue and relief operation on July 30 after declaring an emergency in the flood-struck northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

S.-dollar coal mine, railway and coal-loading terminal near Bowen in Queensland.The deal would yield 4 billion Australian dollars (3.53 billion U.S. dollars) in exports each year for 25 years, Rudd said.

BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang has said that low-rent and affordable housing construction should be sped up to meet people's basic demands for living.The construction of public low-rent housing seeks to offer middle and low-income urban residents with adequate housing and affordable rents. This not only helps curb skyrocketing property prices in some cities, but is also conducive to bridge the income gap and assist in urbanization, Li told a national meeting which concluded on Saturday.While speaking at the two-day meeting, Li urged local authorities to create favorable taxation and financing policies to support such housing programs.He noted that private capital is also welcome to join the mission to diversify fund raising channels. Li urged different localities to explore their own methods based upon their unique conditions to carry out housing construction.Li also said that the construction and distribution of low-rent housing should be transparent and fair.Exorbitant housing prices in some cities have become a major complaint of Chinese citizens. Home prices in 70 large and medium-sized cities rose by 12.4 percent year on year in May, the National Bureau of Statistics said this week.However, the growth rate was 0.4 percentage points lower than that of April, as property sales in major big cities dropped following a string of government measures to rein in prices.

  

BEIJING, June 12 (Xinhua)-- The amount of foreign direct investment (FDI) into China in May rose by 27.48 percent year on year to 8.13 billion U.S. dollars, said Yao Jian, spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce (MOC), Saturday.The figure brought the country's FDI to 38.92 billion U.S. dollars in the first five months, an increase of 14.31 percent from a year earlier.Yao said that in the first five months, FDI mainly flowed into the manufacturing sector, accounting for 47.32 percent of the total, despite a fall of 3.85 percent in the amount.The service sector saw actual inflow of the FDI up 32.05 percent from a year earlier, while FDI in the primary sector, including farming, fishery and forestry, rose 85.49 percent year on year, which accounted for 1.63 percent of the total FDI in the first five months.China approved the establishment of 9,638 overseas-funded ventures in the first five months, up 22.15 percent from the same period of last year.In May alone, the government approved 2,132 such companies, representing a year-on-year increase of 29.29 percent.

  

BEIJING, June 26 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has warned local authorities to keep a sober mind in the face of the complicated economic situation, even though the economic recovery has strengthened over the last six months.Wen made the remarks during his two-day visit to Hangzhou, the capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, which concluded on Saturday.He asked local officials to step up efforts to a keep close watch on the economy's development and find new problems quickly.During discussions with local authorities of the eastern provinces of Zhejiang, Jiangsu and the Shanghai municipality, Wen said the Yangtze River Delta, where the three regions are situated, should take the lead in choosing a development path featuring scientific nature, harmony, and integration.Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao (C) visits staff members of e-commerce company Alibaba in east China's Zhejiang Province June 25, 2010.
