BALTIMORE — Social media ads are designed to sell consumers on products they're already interested in, but be careful about ordering from unfamiliar websites.Queen Shaydonna Haynesworth was served up an ad for a rainbow Christmas tree on Instagram, and she jumped at it. A few weeks later, her package arrived. In a video she recorded while opening the package, Haynesworth was baffled when she realized the tree she got in the mail looked nothing like the ad she was served."Like seriously? Who is responsible for this?" she said.Haynesworth ordered the tree from a website called Iridescent To You, but the payment was processed by Yokawa Network Limited."So I love rainbow everything, and so I'm like okay, a rainbow Christmas tree, why not? This should be fun," Haynesworth said. That is, until a feather duster lookalike arrived in the mail."Yo! It's missing a leg!" Haynesworth said in her unboxing video. "The worst thing I've ever seen in my whole life."She didn't try contacting the company or returning the item — she figured it was a lesson learned.Angie Barnett, president and CEO of the Better Business Bureau in greater Maryland, said that's what creators of fake websites hope will happen."The scammer or the schemer clearly made a profit. Most of these items are made overseas, so to return the item you'd actually have to ship to China or ship to an outside country and the cost is going to be phenomenal," Barnett said. Before ordering anything from social media ads or unfamiliar sites, look at the contact page. If there is no business address listed, that's a red flag. If there is an address, Google the address to see if it exists. Call the phone number to see if it works. Send an email and wait for a response. And use a credit card when shopping online. While it's nothing close to what she ordered, Haynesworth said she's keeping the tree."I'm determined now," she said. "Like, it's mine. I might as well. I'm going to get the ornaments I was going to put on it. Now, I'm defiant. I'm getting that tree up."This story was originally published by Mallory Sofastaii on WMAR in Baltimore. 2120

BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV) — One year after the Lilac Fire, houses are going up, as well as "for sale" signs on empty lots. Mike and Tami Hulsizer never hesitated to rebuild. “Just knowing that although losing the house originally was tragedy, but I knew that we would rise again and I knew that my Lord would take care of it,” said Mike.Mike says faith has gotten his family through the challenging year. So has compassion from those willing to help. RELATED: Hero horse trainers who rescued racehorses commemorate first anniversary of Lilac FireFrom the design to subcontractors, neighbors and businesses have pitched in to ease the financial burden of rebuilding. “There’s been a lot of hands involved in this house,” said Mike. The new home features spacious windows which highlight the beautiful nature surrounding them. Mike and Tami say their hearts ache for those who recently became fire victims across the state.RELATED: Lessons learned from the Lilac Fire, in San Diego report"They’re going through the same thing we did but they’re just getting started, I feel bad for them, we’ve been there and know exactly what they’re going through," said Mike.In addition to the companies which have helped them rebuild, Mike says he’s grateful to the county for the swift permitting process. “It’s been really a miracle house for us,” said Mike.He hopes to have everything complete in early April and will celebrate with a party. 1434

Behind every stitch and each piece of fabric on the dolls put on display in Washington D.C., there’s a real face and a real story.Activist Marta Perez-Garcia is the creator of the display, and she hopes it will open the public’s eyes to the realities surrounding domestic violence.“I think, because I have too many people around me and I really saw it for so long, I needed to do something about it,” Perez-Garcia says.Perez-Garcia grew up in Puerto Rico and says she regularly witnessed women being abused. She says after moving to the mainland U.S., those stories didn’t stop."It's something that is in the media, that you see that is very close to home,” she says."One in 3 women are survivors of domestic violence and or sexual assault,” says Bakht Arif, who works with abuse survivors. “And that is a lot of people.Arif works with abuse survivors for a non-profit project in Washington D.C. She believes the doll display is one way to grab people's attention but says the conversation should go far beyond this.“Policy is important; legislation is important,” Arif says. “And we will be cheering and protesting for it and cheering for anyone who supports it and brings light to the issue.”The exhibit at the Franklin Reeves building in Washington D.C. was on display throughout the month of October to promote awareness.  But Perez-Garcia says the real voices for change will come from voters in November. "As society, we have to do something about this issue,” she says. “So, if it's to really take people in power to really make the right decisions against domestic violence, of course we have to do that.” 1631

BROOKFIELD -- You may not know the chemical used in your A/C, but that may soon change. The U.S. government will soon stop the manufacturing of a chemical, eating away at the ozone. It is called 'R-22.'R-22 contains chlorine that can deplete the ozone when exposed. This is why it will no longer be manufactured or imported in the United States, starting in 2020. The price has skyrocketed since this announcement.Eble Park Ice Arena in Brookfield, Wisconsin has been using this type of freon since it opened nearly 30 years ago.The facility is owned by the Waukesha County Park System. The county has made about 0,000 in upgrades to this ice rink.Waukesha County Park System Director Duane Grimm said that is a far better deal than switching over to a common chemical used these days, such as ammonia."This will save us money to replace all the chiller plant here we would also have to replace the floor all the piping under the floor," Grimm said. "If we did this you're kind of looking at million to .5 million. This may affect you at home. Air conditioning units before the 2010 cutoff most likely still use the outdated refrigerant, if you spot 'R-22' or 'R-410A' on your compressor unit. You could still buy some recycled R-22 after the cutoff date in two years. It's going to be expensive. An instructor at MATC tells us it will run you about 0 dollars for just 30 pounds. For more information on 'R-22' Freon, visit the EPA's website.  1473
