BALTIMORE, Md. - A picture is worth a thousand words. It's a cliche saying but it's true.Many times when you look at a picture, it takes you back to that exact moment in time. That's what a local artist focuses on doing for people to capture their memories.Shawn Parsons has been painting his entire life and sells his work but sometimes he gives away a piece of his artwork.Over the winter, he painted a picture of a pet after his coworker's dog died."The overwhelming joy was so huge for me when I left there I thought maybe there’s something about painting someone else’s memories," said Parsons. "It was such a cool feeling for me to give something to someone where the emotion was so high I continued to do it."So he painted a few more and gave them away.This pandemic put a different twist on things for Parsons. His friend, Erin Millon, asked if he would paint a picture for her son's birthday. It was just another project that turned into a movement.Parsons painted a picture for her son, McCabe, of him playing lacrosse. McCabe made the varsity lacrosse team at McDonogh High School as a freshman but his season was canceled."We were able to play two games and then everything shut down," said McCabe. "It hurt a lot, still does. One of the worst parts about it was seeing how much the seniors lost and knowing how much they care and how much they’ve been working all fall, all winter."McCabe was blown away by Parsons' painting, he wanted others to feel what he did. BRIGHTON, Colo. -- Ava Breiterman is struggling with her emotions after a traumatic event over the weekend."Her whining and not waiting is a result of what happened on Saturday," said Ava's mother Kelly Breiterman.Five-year-old Ava has level 2 autism. Kelly Breiterman says her daughter has sensory issues that cause Ava to have "meltdowns".Kelly and Ava flew Southwest to Omaha from Denver nearly two weeks ago with no problems. The flight back was a different story.Breiterman says from the time she went to check her bags in the Omaha airport, all the way to when she and her daughter got on the plane, they were told Ava must keep her mask on."I was trying to get her to put her mask back on, she wouldn’t. So the manager came back in and said, 'sorry ma'am, we’re going to have to deboard you because this is a policy and she wasn’t wearing a mask,'" Breiterman said.Breiterman says Southwest employees ignored a doctor's note explaining Ava may have difficulties leaving her mask on because of her illness.Jesse Ogas at Firefly Autism says his organization actually teaches kids with autism to wear a mask. Both he and Breiterman would like to see policy changes."I’m telling you right now some kids aren’t going to wear a mask because of the sensory issues involved in that," Ogas tells Denver7.We asked Southwest Airlines if their policy should be changed, they responded saying "As of July 27, there are no exemptions to Southwest’s face covering requirement."After being kicked off the plane, Breiterman says Southwest offered a voucher for another flight and refused to grab their bags which stayed on the plane to DIA. The next day, the Breiterman's were forced to rent a car and drive 500 miles home. BONSALL, Calif. (KGTV) – A man was killed following a DUI-related crash on State Route 76 New Year’s Day, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP says the head-on crash happened on the SR-76 near Monserate at 3:54 a.m. Tuesday. According to CHP, a 25-year-old man living at Camp Pendleton was driving a Lexus eastbound in the westbound lanes of the 76 when he struck a man riding a motorcycle. The motorcyclist died at the scene. The 25-year-old man was taken to the hospital with minor scratches and later arrested after CHP says he was determined to be under the influence. 592
