The burned remains of a Michigan woman have been identified by authorities as Susie Zhao, 33. Zhao played poker on the national competitive circuit. Zhao's body was discovered near a park in a Detroit suburb on July 13 around 8 a.m."The female subject was badly burned," according to a press release from White Lake Township Police."Surprised, confused, and saddened," said her former roommate Yuval Bronshtein. "It's hard to picture her having enemies."Bronshtein said Zhao bounced between cities including Los Angeles and Vegas and recently moved back to Michigan to be with family to be with her parents and to confront challenges in her personal life.She was an avid poker player and a national talent on the competitive circuit."She really was a excellent player," said Bart Hanson, a friend and poker rival. "One of the best in L.A. at the level we played at the Commerce Casino and it's the biggest poker room in the world."Authorities said a motive is unclear. The death toll in the deadliest wildfire in California history continues to increase as Cal Fire officials said on Tuesday that six more bodies were found, marking the Camp Fire's death toll at 48. The six bodies were found in Paradise, California, a town that authorities said was destroyed by the Camp Fire, which is only 30 percent contained as of Tuesday. The Camp Fire alone has destroyed 8,817 structures and continues to spread. The fire is spreading despite nearly 5,000 fire personnel responding to the fire, Cal Fire said. Unfortunately, the Camp Fire is just one of several wildfires raging currently. The Woolsey Fire, which has claimed two lives of its own, continues to spread throughout Ventura County, California. The European Union is to propose ending twice-yearly clock changes after a large-scale public survey, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Friday.According to Juncker, more than 80% of EU citizens want to abolish daylight saving time and instead remain on the time used during summer instead.At the moment, each EU member state puts clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday of March and back again on the last Sunday in October."This debate about summertime, wintertime has been around for many years here," Juncker told German broadcaster ZDF."Many people are contributing to this debate. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Thursday that it’s investigating salmonella cases linked to pet bearded dragons and hedgehogs.The CDC said that 13 salmonella infections in eight states have been potentially tied to handling the pets. The CDC confirmed that seven of the infections resulted in hospitalizations. Ten of the 13 ill people reported contact with a bearded dragon.Those who reported illnesses said they purchased bearded dragons from pet stores, but a common supplier has not been identified.The CDC said that two similar outbreaks were tied to hedgehogs in the last decade.The CDC offers owners of pet bearded dragons and hedgehogs the following tips:Always wash hands thoroughly with soap and water right after touching your pet or anything in its environment.Don’t kiss or snuggle your pet because this can spread Salmonella germs to your face and mouth and make youKeep your pet out of your kitchen and other areas where you eat, store, or prepare food.Clean items you use to care for your pet outside the house, if possible. If you clean the items indoors, clean them in a laundry sink or bathtub.
