LOS ANGELES (KGTV/CNS) - A person infected with measles passed through Los Angeles International Airport twice in late May and public health officials are urging anyone who may have been exposed to check their immunization records and report any possible symptoms.According to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, the infected person -- who does not live in the area -- passed through LAX twice during the Memorial Day weekend.Possibly exposure may have occurred:-- between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. May 26 at LAX Terminal 4 at Gate 48B; and-- between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. May 28 at the Tom Bradley International Terminal Remote Gate.Health officials noted that anyone who may have been in those areas may be at risk of developing measles for up to 21 days following exposure.People who think they may have been exposed were urged to check their immunization history and contact their health care provider by phone, particularly if they are pregnant or have a weakened immune system. People who develop possible symptoms, such as illness with fever or an unexplained rash, should stay home and call their health care provider.Southern California doctors have been warning the region to watch out for the illness as cases increase across the U.S. this year. In May, CDC officials said the U.S. had already seen its highest amount of measles cases in three decades.In SoCal, San Diego and Los Angeles have been considered high-risk counties for measles cases."Measles is preventable and the way to end this outbreak is to ensure that all children and adults who can get vaccinated, do get vaccinated. LOGAN HEIGHTS (KGTV) - Police are investigating a stabbing in Logan Heights that left one man injured.The stabbing happened just before 6:20 p.m. Sunday in the 3000 block on National Avenue near 30th Street.Police say the man was stabbed in an alley at least two times, once in the leg and once in the face.The man was transported to UCSD with non-life threatening injuries.There were no witnesses to the stabbing.Police say they are currently looking at cameras in the area to identify a suspect.Residents in the area told 10News that crime has been increasing in their neighborhood. 592

Lorenza Marrujo is 67 years old and less than five feet tall — but she's no weakling.An intruder recently confronted Marrujo at her seniors apartment complex in Fontana, California. Not only did she protect herself, but her neighbors, too."As he was coming towards me, I said, 'back off.' Right away," Marrujo said.Marrujo has 26 years of martial arts training, so when she told the intruder to back off, he listened. Unfortunately, he made his way to the apartment of 81-year-old Elizabeth McCray — Marrujo's neighbor."He grabbed me and shook me, and I went down on the floor," McCray said.Marrujo heard McCray's screams and went to help."I squeezed myself between her and him. I put mama on the side, and I jumped on him, and I was punching him and everything," Marrujo said. "And I had the cane against his throat."Marrujo said she didn't want to kill him, so she held him down with her hands."He lifted up and tried to twist my hand. At the same time, I twisted his and turned it around real fast," Marrujo said. "And he was saying, 'you're hurting me, you're hurting me.' And I said, 'I don't care. I don't care what happens to you. LOS ANGELES (CNS) - Adopters from across North America will travel to LAX Sunday to welcome some very special new members of their families — dogs rescued from the Chinese dog-meat trade.Two flights will arrive Sunday carrying a total of 27 canines, who will find loving homes in the United States and Canada thanks to the efforts of No Dogs Left Behind — a nonprofit group that rescues dogs from slaughterhouses, dog meat trucks, wet markets, and illegal dog traffickers.Eighteen of the dogs are beagles, and they'll be staying with fosters who work with The Beagle Freedom Project, which is sponsoring the flight along with NDLB and New York-based Rescue Paw Foundation.The remaining nine dogs have already been adopted. They were chosen via emails, phone calls, and even video chats, and will be greeted at the airport on Sunday by their new families, including some who have waited almost a year to meet their new furry friends."It takes a special person to fall in love with one of these sweet survivors over pictures and videos," Brandy Cherven, NDLB's president of adoptions and transports, told City News Service. "They never gave up on their dogs, and we are forever grateful to them.
