TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — A Florida woman was shocked by an early-morning visitor that had made herself at home in her Christmas tree — a raccoon.Early Thursday morning, at about 4:15 a.m., Aubrey Iacobelli was woken up by her dog growling."I have a doggy door and my dog sleeps right in front of that dog door. I hear her going in and out all night. I wake up and I hear her barking outside," Iacobelli said.She asked her Amazon Alexa to turn on the lights, and saw her dog was staring at the Christmas tree and barking."I just knew that there was something there that shouldn't have been there. I see a furry body in the Christmas tree," she said.She grabbed a frying pan to try to get the animal — which she thought was a cat — out of her tree."I didn't want to hurt the animal. I just wanted it outside of the house," she said,That's when the raccoon finally came out of the tree and revealed itself. Iacobelli and her dog spotted the raccoon on the side of the tree and the dog jumped towards it, knocking over the tree.Warning: The video below contains some explicit language."The raccoon ran away from freedom. Not too long ago, to keep him company, a friend brought him a boy cat named Fluffy.Over the first few weeks they had together, Williams says he and Fluffy hit it off right away.“I looked at him and hey, I just fell in love with him,” said Williams.As it’s safe to say we all do with our pets, Williams talked to Fluffy quite a lot. When the senior got calls on his cellphone, he’d joke around with Fluffy then too.“The phone would ring, and I would say ‘ring-a-ding,’” said Williams. “And I didn’t know he’d pick up on it.”Then, a few days ago, Williams slipped and fell getting out of the shower. He couldn’t move.“My arm was pinned under me, and the hours kept going by,” said Williams. “16 hours…”From roughly 8 a.m. until midnight later that day, Williams laid in agony. The door was closed, and his Life Alert was in the other room on the charger. His phone was in the bathroom with him, but just out of reach on the counter.Lucky for Williams, Fluffy was in the room too. And whether or not he knew it, he’d been training Fluffy for this moment accidentally.“So I said ‘ring-a-ding Fluffy, you’re my only hope,’” Williams said, tearing up. “And he was. It wasn’t even five minutes later I felt something hit my hand. And I’m here because of it.”The cat had brought Williams his phone and he was able to dial 911.“I relive it a million times. TAMPA BAY, Fla. — According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 107 people from 21 states, including Florida, have reported contracting measles between January 1 to July 14, 2018.Measles is a virus that is easily spread by air droplets when infected persons breathe, cough, or sneeze. The first symptoms are a high fever that may spike to 105°F, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes. These symptoms are followed by a blotchy rash that spreads from the head to the feet.Measles is a potentially severe disease, especially young children and persons with compromised immune systems.
