And before someone hits send go ‘whoa hold on. What you're about to say could be offensive. Are you sure you want to post that?’”The custom-built ReThink keyboard replaces the mobile device’s default keyboard and can spot and flag aggressive messages. She tested it as part of a science project with 1,500 young people.“Basically, seeing how young people behaved online, on a social media like environment, when they had a chance to rethink saying something offensive, 93% of the time, young people change their mind.”The prodigy has given multiple TEDx talks about cyber bullying over the years and has spoken at schools around the country and internationally.ReThink has now been used by more than 5.5 million young people and has partnered with groups like scholastic and the U.S. State Department.Last month, the Elevate Prize Foundation awarded Prabhu 0,000 in funding to help support her mission.“It really is just a matter of being conscious being conscious of what we're saying,” she said. “Just a little bit of consciousness can take us all a very long way.” 2245

CHICAGO (AP) — A Cook County judge has shot down actor Jussie Smollett's attempt to have the criminal charges against him dropped. In a ruling issued Friday, Judge James Linn rejected the argument made by the actor's attorneys that the new charges filed after the original charges were dropped violates Smollett's right against double jeopardy. Linn found that double jeopardy does not apply because Smollett has never been criminally punished.In January 2019, Smollett told Chicago police that he was the victim of an anti-gay and racist attack but he was charged after police concluded that he allegedly staged the attack himself. 640

CARLSBAD (KGTV) -  A new online tool is helping Carlsbad residents voice their opinions on issues and how they prefer their tax dollars spent.Voterfied allows voters to weigh in from their phone or computer. "Who can shout the loudest," was what Carlsbad?Mayor Matt Hall said happened at City Council meetings. "That's not what's best for government, you try to engage as many people as possible," saying the silent majority often went unheard."Their vote goes straight into the elected official's ear, and then the elected official is held accountable because they know how their constituents are voting," COO of Voterfied Lee Ann Allman said.The tool was created when Michael Allman ran for Congress. He wanted a way to easily plug in and crowd source, to discover the needs of the people.Voterfied reached out to Hall first and he held onto the experiment with both hands, "everybody has this equal opportunity, they can hear my voice and I can hear their voice." Lee Ann Allman said there is also an educational component to the tool, "there are links to articles so if a voter wants to find out more about something they can click on the link,"The tool is hack proof and compares information you input to the voter registry, focusing the questions they push out on specific residents.In the six or more months Hall's been testing Voterfied, Carlsbad is already seeing an impact. "Instead of having a community center, the public thought more about having a dog park," Hall said.Carlsbad's next big change? CARROLL COUNTY, Ind. -- There were no survivors from a plane crash Thursday night in Carroll County, according to Indiana State Police. The Cessna 441 went down around 7:30 p.m. local time in a field near Carroll County Roads 500 West and 600 South, just north of Rossville.The plane took off from Eagle Creek Airport in Indianapolis at 7:21 p.m., according to flight records. It was headed to Green Bay-Austin Straubel International Airport in Green Bay, Wisconsin.At 7:39 p.m., data shows that the plane was between 18,000 feet and 28,000 feet when it disappeared off radar, sources told Scripps station WRTV in Indianapolis. Shortly after, multiple people called 911 in Carroll County, reporting a plane down. People who live in the area who heard the crash say it sounded like thunder.First responders had trouble finding the wreckage at first because it was so dark and far back in a field. They eventually used ATVs and other off-road vehicles to access the area. WRTV learned that there were at least three people on board.There is no word on what caused the plane to go down. Officials with the FAA and NTSB are expected to arrive on the scene Friday morning to begin their investigation.  1275

CARLSBAD (CNS) - The Army and Navy Academy agreed to pay .75 million to settle a lawsuit filed by a former cadet at the Carlsbad-based military school, where the cadet was allegedly sexually assaulted in 1999, the law firm representing the cadet announced today.The civil suit, filed by Irvine-based law firm Manly, Stewart & Finaldi, alleged that 60-year-old Jeffrey Barton, who was an administrator in charge of academics at the academy, molested the cadet when he was a ninth-grader in 1999, the law firm said in a statement.The lawsuit alleged that Barton drugged the cadet in May 1999 and sodomized him in a bathroom on campus.In a criminal case involving the cadet, Barton was convicted in June 2017 of five felony counts of oral copulation and one felony county of sodomy.He was sentenced to 48 years in prison in August 2017.Manly, Stewart & Finaldi also represented a former cadet of the Carlsbad-based academy in a separate civil suit in 2017. That lawsuit alleged that Juan Munoz, who was employed by the Army and Navy Academy to "run its military programs," sexually assaulted and molested a former cadet in November 1146
