CORONADO, Calif. (KGTV) -- Warmer ocean temperatures are being blamed after 10 to 15 people were stung by stingrays along the beach in Coronado Tuesday afternoon. According to lifeguards, 10 to 15 people were stung by the creatures after 4 p.m. Lifeguards say ocean temperatures, which reached the mid 60s Tuesday, were to blame for the increase in stingray activity. Lifeguards added that, when ocean waters warm up, it’s common to see an increase in stingray activity, but it’s unusual to see so many stings in a single day. Crews placed purple flags along the shores of Coronado Tuesday to warn of the increase, but say tourists may not know about the dangers the rays pose. The flags can also be used to warn about other creatures, such as jellyfish in the water. The California round ray is known to feed in the shallows off the California coast. Officials say the stingrays lay partially buried in the sand while hunting, making them difficult to spot for unsuspecting beachgoers. The stingray’s barb is covered in venom and mucus that causes severe pain if it breaks the skin. To avoid stepping on the rays, lifeguards recommend shuffling your feet. If you do happen to be stung, below is a list of what you should do to treat the sting: 1. Stop the bleeding.2. Go to the nearest lifeguard.3. Soak foot in hot water to deactivate venom.4. Congressman Duncan Hunter is continuing to stand up for his political livelihood, one year after a federal campaign fraud indictment.Voters in the 50th District re-elected Hunter in November, despite 60 federal charges of campaign fraud against him and his wife Margaret. The Hunters were accused of misusing 0,000 in campaign contributions - funding things like lavish vacations and living expenses. Now, the congressman is facing attacks and challenges from members of his own party as he pushes to renew his term in 2020. "When he was first indicted, everybody wrote his political obituary," said Political Analyst John Dadian. But Hunter, a Republican, is very much alive. He beat Democrat Ammar Campa-Najjar in 2018, and is continuing to fight the charges in Federal Court.The challenges, however, are mounting. In June, Margaret Hunter reached a plea deal with prosecutors, agreeing to testify against her husband. Plus, Judge Thomas Whelan ruled federal prosecutors can use details of Congressman Hunter's alleged affairs with five Washington D.C. area women, allegedly funded with campaign contributions, as part of their case. "I think voters in the 50th District have said, and they clearly spoke in November of 2018, that they want to wait for the courts to decide and give them a clear judgment before they decide on the political fate of Congressman Hunter," said Thad Kousser, who chairs the political science department at UC San Diego. Hunter's trial has now been pushed back to mid-January to wait for a decision on his appeal to have the case thrown out. That means voters will be getting their absentee ballots while the trial is ongoing. "They're going to have very litlte time to make up their minds after this trial," Kousser said. In 2020, California will hold its primary on March 3. In prior years, the primary would be held in June. In addition to Campa-Najjar, a Democrat, a number of San Diego-area Republicans have challenged Hunter. That includes Former City Councilman Carl DeMaio, El Cajon Mayor Bill Wells, and former Escondido Mayor Sam Abed. Hunter's spokesman and his attorney both declined to comment Wednesday. 2160

Country star Jason Aldean was performing when a gunman began firing on the crowd from inside Mandalay Bay. Now, Aldean is opening up about how he's been coping since the tragedy of Oct. 1, 2017.  "I think you go through a lot of different emotions of being thankful that none of your family and friends was injured. And then you feel guilty," said Aldean. "Those people are there to see your show so that's awful."Since that dreadful night in October, Aldean has struggled with the complexity of his feelings about surviving the country's deadliest mass shooting in modern history.  "And then you start doing that thing, like, 'Man, did that really happen. Did that really happen to us?' It seems so crazy. Like how could that even be a thing?"Aldean said his wife and crew were a great comfort to him, but it was visiting the injured in the hospital and the birth of his son that put things in perspective. "That helped. Going back to the hospital, going back to Vegas and seeing those people. Seeing some of the strength they were having," said Aldean. " People laid up in the hospital and smiling and laughing and just being glad they were alive."His son was born exactly two months after the Las Vegas shooting."Really to me, he just gave me something else to focus on. Congratulations 747, the “fat and fabulous” winner of Bear Week 2020 at Katmai National Park.Number 747 was up against bear number 32, nicknamed “Chunk,” in the final head-to-head match-up of the just-for-fun tournament.Bear 747 was first identified and tagged by the park in 2004 and, according to Katmai officials, he has grown to be one of the largest bears in the preserve.“When asked what he intends to do now that he has won, the only response was a look before going back to fishing in the Jacuzzi near the Brooks Falls, one of his favorite fishing spots,” park officials said in a press release about the winner.The annual match-up features images of brown bears from around Katmai National Park showing how they have bulked up over the spring and fall ahead of winter hibernation. CNN anchors Poppy Harlow and Jim Sciutto were covering the suspicious packages sent to the Clintons and the Obamas when the fire alarm sounded inside their New York City studio.There was another package -- and it was inside the building where they were broadcasting.Over the loudspeaker, CNN staffers were told to evacuate the building. Right over Harlow's shoulder, viewers could see staffers grabbing their coats and walking out to the lobby."There's a fire alarm here," Harlow said. "We'll be right back," Sciutto said, tossing to a commercial break.Police officers were already arriving outside.The suspicious device was delivered to the mailroom of CNN's parent company, WarnerMedia, around 9:30 a.m. ET on Wednesday, according to a WarnerMedia executive.It "appeared to be a pipe bomb," the executive said. It was addressed to John Brennan, the former CIA director, who is a commentator on NBC and MSNBC.The fire alarm was audible on TV at 10:09 a.m. The entire WarnerMedia operation in New York was evacuated, from CNN's offices and studios on the lower floors to the corporate suites upstairs.CNN had to scramble to keep the 10 a.m. newscast on the air. When the anchors heard the fire alarm, they asked a question to a remote guest, Tom Fuentes, which gave them a moment to size up the situation. Then they tossed to commercial and evacuated.The newscast is usually produced out of a control room in Atlanta, which is why there was no interruption in programming.
