Dr. Beth Carewe, an OBGYN, says worrying is the most common feeling among mothers."Whether it’s a standard pregnancy or one that’s more high risk, we see moms start to worry about things we do in everyday life and wonder if those are safe for them," said Dr. Carewe. For Leah and Kierra, the maternity seatbelt was never something they thought of until they saw it on Amazon. It was only , so they decided to give it a try. "It's a regular seatbelt but the bottom part hooks in between the legs versus covering the belly," said Leah.The couple knows a maternity seatbelt might be considered extreme and Dr. Carewe says to be careful when purchasing certain safety products."There are so many things out there, so it's hard to know what’s good from the product websites," said Dr. Carewe. Besides reading reviews on the product, Dr. Carewe suggests always consulting your doctor before making a purchase like this. And to remember, a baby is safest in the belly. "Babies are inside the amniotic sac, which is inside the uterus, which is a very thick muscular wall that provides a lot of protection to babies," said Dr. Carewe.Wearing a standard seatbelt while pregnant is Dr. Carewe's recommendation, solely because not enough studies have been done on the safety of maternity belts.However, she knows that moms need to do what's right for their baby.And for Leah and Kierra, it gives them peace of mind. Severe weather plagued several states throughout the Midwest over the weekend, killing one person and damaging at least one building.Vickie Darnel, 64, died from drowning Sunday after she drove into a flooded creek crossing in Le Flore County, Oklahoma, according to Lt. Kera Philippi, spokeswoman for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.Philippi says that Darnel's vehicle was swept off the roadway around 4:30 a.m. Sunday near the border of Arkansas.The area saw a number of flash flood and severe thunderstorm warnings from the National Weather Service over the weekend.The National Weather Service is sending an assessment team to South Bend, Indiana, after a tornado touched down in the area and destroyed at least one building.The building was the site of Growing Kids daycare facility, according to Aaron Miller, dispatch supervisor for St. Joseph County Public Safety Communication Center.Miller told CNN that the building suffered extensive damage and there were several reports of trees down throughout St. Joseph County.Missouri State Highway Patrol along with the Missouri Department of Conservation and several local agencies performed multiple water rescues Sunday for people whose vehicles were in the water.They also rescued people who were stranded by high water due to heavy rainfall, according to the Missouri Department of Public Safety.A subdivision in Neosho, Missouri, and parts of Roaring River State Park had to be evacuated, although it was unclear how many people had to leave, the Missouri Department of Public Safety said.The band of weather that caused all of this chaos is called a frontal boundary and it acts as a cold front but doesn't actually have any cold air behind it.The mixture of the boundary layer is slightly cooler dry air and hot humid air which can cause intense storms. 1821

Space is an incredible subject to study, and it wouldn’t be possible without the collection of Moon rocks and dust, as well as information about the Universe scientists have gathered.In building 31 north at the Johnson Space Center, NASA’s Lunar Lab houses some of the most famous rocks from all the Apollo missions. They have over 100,000 rocks from space.Charis Krysher, a Lunar Curation Processor for NASA, says moon rocks and space dust are the most important thing brought back to Earth.“One of the first things that we learned from the Apollo collection was how old the moon the Earth was,” Krysher says.Rocks on Earth aren’t pristine like they are on the Moon. Moon rocks don’t age, because there is no atmosphere in space to break down the rocks. The rocks found on the moon can potentially be billions of years old. “More recently we've actually learned in the past, less than a decade, that the Moon's rocks actually contain way more water than was originally realized,” the processor explains. Just like famous diamonds and jewels, there are well known space rocks, too. Like the one found by Apollo 15. “They named it the Genesis Rock, because it’s a part of the primordial crust of the moon,” she says.When studying these samples, scientists take all the precautions, from wearing bunny suits, temperature-controlled rooms and even triple bagging each rock for storing."We try really hard to preserve the rocks so that the science that we learn from the rocks can be trusted," Krysher says.It’s not every day we go to the Moon, so these scientists take time to study the rocks and do it sparingly. They are still breaking rocks over 40 years old. However, come five years from now, they’ll get another chance for more rocks when U.S. astronauts head to the moon in 2024. 1796

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell fractured his shoulder Sunday after falling in his Kentucky home, his office said in a statement."This morning, Leader McConnell tripped at home on his outside patio and suffered a fractured shoulder," David Popp, McConnell's communications director, said in a statement. "He has been treated, released, and is working from home in Louisville."McConnell's injury comes as Democrats demand he reconvenes the Senate to pass gun control legislation after a pair of mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio this weekend left 29 people dead.Popp added that McConell had spoken to Republican Sens.
