(KGTV) -- The U.S. Geological Survey says a pair of earthquakes struck Costa Rica's Pacific Coast Friday evening, including magnitude 6.0 temblor. There were no immediate reports of damage.The first quake was reported at 11:22 p.m. and was centered in the port town of Golfito on the southern Pacific Coast, according to USGS.The jolt was followed by a smaller but strong magnitude 4.9 quake centered in San Vito, about 40 miles east of Golfito.  That quake struck about 27 minutes after the quake in Golfito.Stay with 10News for updates to this story.  606

(KGTV) - Online travel site TripAdvisor will no longer sell tickets to attractions that breed or buy dolphins and whales, including SeaWorld, company officials said Wednesday. TripAdvisor and its subsidiary Viator planned to phase out the tickets over the next few months. The new policy will not apply to seaside sanctuaries that provide care to cetaceans already in captivity, TripAdvisor officials said. “We believe the current generation of whales and dolphins in captivity should be the last, and we look forward to seeing this position adopted more widely throughout the travel industry,” said TripAdvisor Experiences and Rentals president Dermot Halpin. “TripAdvisor is on the right side of history,” said Dr. Naomi Rose, Marine Mammal Scientist, Animal Welfare Institute, in a release issued by the travel company. “Whales and dolphins cannot thrive in captivity and enlightened tourists no longer tolerate exploiting these intelligent and socially complex marine predators for human entertainment.” SeaWorld issued a statement in response to TripAdvisor’s decision. “We are disappointed by TripAdvisor’s new position that ignores the educational value and conservation mission of professionally accredited zoos and aquariums. SeaWorld believes deeply in the mission of these organizations. As a member of World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA), certified by American Humane, and accredited by Association of Zoos & Aquariums (AZA) and Alliance of Marine Mammal Parks and Aquariums (AMMPA), as well as numerous other certifications and accreditations from leading accrediting bodies, SeaWorld maintains the highest standards of care for all animals, including cetaceans. (KGTV) - The world's oldest message in a bottle was discovered half-buried at a West Australian beach nearly 132 years since it was written.The Western Australian Museum confirmed Tuesday that the message is dated June 12, 1886 — dating back more than 48,000 days. The old gin bottle was jettisoned from the Germain sailing barque "Paula," according to the museum."It just looked like a lovely old bottle so I picked it up thinking it might look good in my bookcase. My son’s girlfriend was the one who discovered the note when she went to tip the sand out," Tonya Illman, the woman who discovered the bottle told the museum. "The note was damp, rolled tightly and wrapped with string. For 69 years, thousands of bottle were tossed overboard German ships studying ocean currents.The notes, which contained dates and coordinates, would instruct whoever finds the bottle to write back when and where they located the note to help researchers build data on currents. And while Disney reviewed early concepts, he didn't live long enough to see the completed ride.The idea for the mansion started in 1952 as an early concept sketch by Harper Goff when the theme park was still being developed.
