SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Saturday, San Diego County reported a record 1,478 new coronavirus cases and six additional deaths, bringing the county's totals to 70,709 cases and 966 fatalities.Saturday's new cases yielded a 7% positivity rate out of 21,947 tests reported. The new daily case report marks the third time in a week that the county has reported more than 1,000 new cases. It was also the 11th-straight day the county reported at least 600 new cases.Eleven new community outbreaks were also confirmed on Friday: Three in business settings, three in faith-based settings, two in childcare settings, one in a TK-12 school setting, one in a restaurant/bar setting, and one in a gym setting. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) - Some business owners in downtown San Diego claim a new bike lane on 6th Avenue is hurting their ability to operate.“We’re having a lot of issues with loading,” said Bon Pinak, the general manager of Thosakan, a Thai restaurant on 6th Ave.The new protected bike lane was placed along the curb. All the parking on the east side of the street was removed, as well as most of the loading zone.Only two spots were left for vehicles. Posted signs say they can be used for 20 minutes for commercial loading until 6 p.m. After 6 p.m., it turns into three-minute passenger loading.“I got a ticket three days ago,” said Remzi Kaval, owner of the Coffee and Talk cafe on 6th.He said he was unloading some supplies in one of the spaces, but it was after 6 p.m.“We don’t have any space where we can park.”The new protected bike lanes have been installed in various places across the City recently. Both as an attempt to make biking safer but also to meet the City’s climate action goals.“It’s great. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Sheriff's Department says deputies arrested a wanted man on Sunday who was openly carrying a loaded rifle in the East County.Lakeside deputies were called after witnesses reported a man walking around with a loaded M4 rifle around his chest, according to the department. Deputies responded and took the man and his weapon into custody. SDSO said the man was a wanted parolee and that he had a felony warrant stemming from a case involving an assault with a deadly weapon.It is also illegal for a convicted felon to be in possession of a firearm in California, the department added.The parolee's identity was not released. 658

SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — San Diego Police Saturday honored a local boy who risked his life to save his younger brother from drowning.Police say 10-year-old Ulises Frausto and his 7-year-old brother did not know how to swim when they were in a pool together. The brothers were holding onto the side of the pool when Frausto's brother lost his grip and sunk to the bottom.Despite not knowing how to swim, police say Frausto put his life on the line, swimming to the bottom of the pool to rescue his little brother. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) — Some San Diego Police Department officers are being isolated as they await test results for coronavirus, according to SDPD Chief David Nisleit.Those officers were exposed to the virus and are currently under isolation, Chief Nisleit told 10News anchor Jim Patton. A spokesperson says they'll strongly suggest officers wear protective equipment for all interactions with the public closer than six feet.
