BEIJING, May 25 (Xinhua) -- China and Finland here on Tuesday marked their 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties at an evening reception.Addressing the reception, Wang Gang, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, said the two countries had become "reliable partners of cooperation."Finnish President Tarja Halonen echoed Wang, saying information and environmental concerns had become important areas of cooperation.The president said she was leading a delegation of business people to China to build links between the two countries. She said she looked forward to a clean tech workshop slated for Wednesday.Halonen arrived at Beijing Tuesday morning, kicking off her six-day visit to China. The man was later taken to hospital.Rescuers had saved 17,000 trapped people and a total of 6,870 people had been pulled out from under the rubble of collapsed buildings, among whom 6,110 survived, Miao Chonggang, deputy head of the China Earthquake Administration's quake relief and emergency response department, told a press conference.Miao said currently more than 15,000 rescuers, including over 11,000 from the People's Liberation Army and armed police, 2,800 firefighters and special police forces, and 1,500 earthquake and mine accident rescuers, are still searching for quake survivors in Yushu.

BEIJING, June 1 (Xinhua) -- China's central bank will push forward yuan settlement in cross-border trade and investment in the western Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of the People's Bank of China (PBOC), said Tuesday.Zhou said it was one of PBOC's important moves amid the central government's efforts to achieve leapfrog development and lasting stability in Xinjiang. However, he did not elaborate on the plan nor give a timetable.He said the PBOC would also support the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Xinjiang.Chinese exporters and importers in five cities -- Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhuhai and Dongguan -- are already allowed to settle cross-border trade deals in yuan.A PBOC report said last month that the country needs to expand yuan cross-border settlement when conditions allow.
