BEIJING, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao returned to Beijing Saturday night from a trilateral summit between China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK).     In a half-day meeting in Japan's Fukuoka, Wen, his Japanese counterpart Taro Aso and ROK President Lee Myung-bak discussed trilateral ties, the ongoing global financial crisis and other issues of common concern.     Before the meeting, Wen met Lee and Aso respectively, and discussed bilateral relations with them.     They issued a joint statement on tripartite partnership relations after the meeting.

KUWAIT CITY, Dec. 28 (Xinhua) -- China vowed here on Sunday to further its pragmatic cooperation with Kuwait in the various fields in a bid to step up the bilateral relations to a higher level.     In his meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, visiting Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang called on the two sides to promote high-level exchange based on equality and mutual benefit, political mutual trust as well as cooperation on trade.     China highly values its ties with Kuwait and the two nations have offered mutual understanding and support on issues with the irrespective key concern, Li said.     Li also said that China is ready to strengthen cooperation with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) which plays a very important role in the Gulf region.     The dialogue mechanism with GCC would launch next year and the negotiation on a free trade area has entered into a critical phase, Li said, expressing his belief that Kuwait would continue to play a significant role to boost China-GCC relationship.  CAIRO, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- At the invitation of Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Mahmoud Mohamed Nazef, Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang arrived here on Wednesday afternoon for an official visit to Egypt.     "I believe my visit will promote the China-Egypt strategic partnership of cooperation to a higher level," Li said in a written speech upon arrival at the airport.     He noted that China attaches great importance to developing relations with Egypt and is ready to make joint efforts with the Egyptian side to consolidate the traditional friendship, deepen the strategic partnership of cooperation and enhance coordination in international and regional issues with Egypt. ATHENS, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Chinese President Hu Jintao flew into Athens Monday for a state visit to Greece, which he said would be successful with the joint efforts by the Chinese side and the Greek side.     "In recent years, the China-Greece comprehensive strategic partnership has been consolidated continuously with increased exchanges and expanded cooperation in all sectors," said President Hu in a written speech issued upon his arrival at the airport.     He said that China attaches great importance to the development of its relations with Greece and will work together with the Greek side for the even better ties in the future. In 2007, the bilateral two-way trade was recorded at 3.4 billion U.S. dollars, and in the first seven months of this year it reached 2.4 billion dollars.     In June this year, Greek President Karolos Papoulias visited China and had talks with President Hu. ALGIERS, Nov. 3 (Xinhua) -- China's top legislator Wu Bangguo arrived in Algiers on Monday afternoon on a three-day official visit to Algeria.     During an informal meeting at the airport with Abdelaziz Ziari, Speaker of the Algerian National Assembly, Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress, highlighted the progress of bilateral relations in recent years, saying he felt especially delighted to visit Algeria at the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties.     "The purpose of my visit is to further promote the friendship between the two peoples, expand the bilateral cooperation with mutual benefit and strengthen our strategic and cooperative ties to a higher level," Wu told Ziari.
