(CNN) -- Jamba Juice is squeezing out part of its name. It's now simply now known as "Jamba."The health food chain announced the name change Thursday. Jamba said the new name better reflects its menu, which has more than juices. It's expanding its offerings with smoothies, bowls and sandwiches as consumers gravitate toward healthier foods. The company said its loyal fans have been calling it "Jamba" for years. But the official name change is part of a larger modernization initiative for the 30-year-old company, which also includes a new mobile app, remodeled stores and new delivery options through Uber Eats and Postmates.Jamba is also trying to stay on trend with plant-based alternatives. Jamba said its beverages will soon be available to be made with spirulina, oat milk and pea protein."Food and beverage category lines are blurring so fast, especially in the premium functional segment, that it no longer makes sense to limit a brand's identity," said Duane Stanford, executive editor of Beverage Digest, a trade publication. "Smart brands are creating platforms that have meaning and meet consumers wherever they are."Jamba changed its name as "juice" has become a dirty word in recent years. People are trying to reduce the number of empty calories and sugar they consume, so they aren't drinking as much as sugar-laden juice as they used to. In 2012, American shoppers bought about 4 billion gallons of juice. That figure had fallen by about 530 million gallons just five years later, according to market research provider Euromonitor International. The same trend has hurt soda sales in the United States. So, Jamba said it's reducing the amount of sugar from its drinks and will roll out more reduced-sugar drinks later this year."We're staying true to our heritage as an innovator in the space and refreshing the brand to stay focused on how we can make it easier, better and faster for guests to live a more active lifestyle," Jamba's president Geoff Henry said in a release.Along with the refreshed menu, Jamba has a new logo, loyalty program and slogan ("Smoothies. Juices. Bowls.").And its 800 US stores will begin to be remodeled later this year. The stores will feature light wood and calmer colors, a shift from the bright oranges and greens that it currently uses. Coolers are also being added for customers to pickup their online orders.Jamba's name change follows Dunkin Donuts' change to Dunkin' last year. The makeover was part of Dunkin' Brand's efforts to relabel itself as a "beverage-led" company that focuses on coffees, teas, speedy service and to-go food including — but not limited to — doughnuts. 2641

(KGTV) — As a caravan of migrants from Honduras marches through Mexico, participants have said they are determined to press on to Tijuana. The caravan has also drawn daily discussions among U.S. leaders as to how to deal with the incoming group, who have said they plan to apply for asylum. It's not clear how close the caravan will be when Election Day rolls around on Nov. 6, but the group's journey is expected to play a large part in the elections.RELATED: As many as 15,000 troops to be deployed to borderThe caravan has said they fled Honduras because of the state of employment, quality of life, and the threat of crime they are faced with in the country — similar to a caravan which came to the U.S.-Mexico border in Tijuana in April. Here is a look at the caravan and actions by U.S. leaders since the group's journey began in October:Oct. 13 — Migrant caravan forms in the Honduran city of San Pedro Sula and begins to head north.Oct. 15 — The caravan arrives at the Guatemala-Honduran border, facing a blockade by local police for nearly two hours. Police eventually allowed the migrants to continue through after they refused to turn back. Oct. 16 — President Donald Trump tweets he's told Honduran President Juan Orlando Hernández, El Salvador, and Guatemala that "no more money or aid" will be given if they allow the caravan to continue to the United States.Oct. 19 — Migrants reach the Guatemala-Mexico border and begin to request asylum in Mexico.Oct. 20 — Battling sweltering heat while waiting to cross the border, some migrants begin to cross into Mexico using makeshift rafts to cross the Suchiate River and climbing over fences.Oct. 21 — Crowds of migrants continue their journey north from the Mexican border town of Ciudad Hidalgo. Buses took migrants about 23 miles to shelters in Tapachula.Oct. 24 — Another caravan is reportedly forming in El Salvador, bound for the U.S.-Mexico border. The migrants reportedly plan to leave on Oct. 31.Oct. 23 — Migrants reach Huixtla, Mexico, about 50 miles from the Mexico-Guatemala border. Troops locally could be staged at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Naval Base Coronado, Naval Base San Diego, and Naval Base Point Loma. Troops may be moved by the end of the week.Oct. 31 — President Trump says troop deployment to the southern border could total as high as 15,000 troops before the caravan arrives, which remains about 1,000 miles away Wednesday. (KGTV) - Families who are caught illegally entering the U.S. will likely be broken up under a new border security policy that is now in effect, the Los Angeles Times reported Monday. The newspaper, citing a Department of Homeland Security official, reported a new Trump administration policy would separate parents and children in the event a family is detained for crossing the U.S.-Mexico border illegally. In a news conference Monday, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the separation is due to the legal process, adding that citizens in the U.S. are also separated from their families when they're arrested.According to the report, families that are detained for illegal crossings have typically been kept together in the past. However, the Homeland Security official told the LA Times that under the new rule, parents will face prosecution while their children are taken to a separate facility.RELATED STORIES: 922
