SAN DIEGO (KGTV) -- Police are investigating after a man was stabbed in East Village Wednesday night. According to San Diego Police, the stabbing happened on the 1500 block of Commercial just after 5 p.m. Police say a 26-year-old man was involved in a fist fight with the suspect when, during the fight, the suspect stabbed the victim in the ribs. The 26-year-old was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene and hasn’t been located, police say. He is described as a 35-year-old black man approximately five feet, seven inches tall and clean shaven. He was last seen wearing a light-colored, short-sleeved shirt and had a scar down his abdomen. 698

(AP) — Authorities say divers have found the body of the last missing victim in a fatal boat fire that killed 34 people off the Southern California coast.The victim is one of 34 who died at sea last week near Santa Cruz Island. Five of the Conception's six crew members survived after multiple attempts to save the others who were trapped below deck.Authorities have said the victims, 21 women and 13 men from 16 to 62 years old, appear to have died from smoke inhalation. One of the victims was San Diegan Nicole Quitasol, a waitress at Nickey Rotten's in Coronado.The Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office also said Wednesday on Twitter that authorities are still doing DNA testing to confirm the identities of seven of the victims. Lt. Erik Raney says salvage efforts to recover the Conception also resumed Wednesday.The FBI, Coast Guard and U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles are conducting a criminal probe into the Sept. 2 tragedy. They have to do so much on their own," said 11-year-old Cartier Carey.Cartier is the leader of the "Carti Pack" and CEO of his lemonade stand, one unlike any other."We sell lemonade, chips, candy - all types of stuff that people want, and it's not expensive," he said.Each dollar spent towards a cup of the summertime drink and goodies on the side goes towards buying diapers for local families in need."The diapers are for mothers or anyone that has babies," Cartier said.It's an unusual business model, but one that's working."There's a shortage of Pampers and wipes in the stores because of the pandemic, so this couldn't have come at a better time," said Anthony Carey, Cartier's dad.A rising sixth-grader like Cartier and his friends could be out playing sports or riding bikes, but instead, they're helping single mothers in the community."There are a lot of grown-ups out there not doing what we're doing," Cartier said."As a parent, it makes me feel spectacular," Anthony said.This lemonade stand isn't a first for Cartier. SAN DIEGO (KGTV) – A sixth robbery suspect was taken into custody following an hours-long SWAT standoff in City Heights Friday afternoon. Police arrived to arrest several suspects on the 3600 block of University Avenue around 11 a.m. Several people were detained, but at least one of the suspects refused to surrender, Sgt. Just after 5 p.m., a flash bang could be heard going off near the building. Just before 6:30 p.m. Friday, San Diego Police said all the suspects had been "peacefully taken into custody." The department also said it was working to clear its vehicles out of the area. Captain Anthony Dupree confirmed the suspects were being investigated for a string of about 20 robberies throughout the mid-city region, extending into La Mesa and El Cajon as well.
