SAN DIEGO (AP) — The California National Guard is denying a report by that California has rejected President Trump's plan to send National Guard troops to the U.S.-Mexico border. The Associated Press originally reported that troops would not be allowed to fix and repair vehicles, operate remotely-controlled surveillance cameras to report suspicious activity to the Border Patrol, operate radios and provide "mission support," which can include clerical work, buying gas and handling payroll, the state reportedly told federal officials. Lt. San Diego was one of more than 3,600 locations that held the global Climate Change Walkout. Hundreds of teenagers marched from San Diego High School in Downtown to the San Diego Civic Center, hoping to make an impact, three days before the United Nations Climate Change Summit. It's a fight against time. Time, they say, the planet does not have. "Climate change is the existential threat of our generation," Elea Castiglione said. The sophomore at San Deigo High School organized the walkout with her friends. She and hundreds of students hoped their actions would inspire world leaders to take aggressive steps to combat climate change. Point Loma High School senior, Kisi Apaak performed her spoken-word piece, "Madness," at the San Diego Civic Center rally. Being 17, she said she does not have an income, nor does she have the right to vote. She said spoken-word is her way to show Mother Nature that she cares."This is all I know how to do, is write and talk and get out and take action," Apaak said. Many said they were inspired by Greta Thunberg, the 16-year-old Swedish climate change activist, who has now become the face of the movement. Activists here said San Diegans should be more involved, considering our geography."I think that San Diego as a city needs to go carbon neutral, and we also need to be leaders as a coastal city in our protest for nationwide and global change," Castiglione said. SAN DIEGO (CNS) - A 16-year-old boy was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries he sustained in a stabbing attack in the Egger Highlands area.The victim and a friend were in the 1500 block of Thermal Avenue at 10:30 p.m. Friday when a dark-colored vehicle pulled up next to them and two suspects got out of the back and began fighting with the victim, according to Officer Robert Heims of the San Diego Police Department.The suspects threw a bottle at the victim and stabbed him in the hip, then jumped back in the vehicle, which was last seen southbound on Thermal Avenue, Heims said.The boy was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Heims said.A detailed description of the suspects was not available. 737

SAN DIEGO — Todd Brown doesn’t hold back when he talks about the impact Coronavirus restrictions have made on his bottom line.“It’s been basically devastating to us,” he said.Brown owns multiple restaurants in San Diego - including Bub’s in Pacific Beach. This past Fourth of July weekend was not what he was hoping for.“With the holiday weekend, our numbers, they were tremendously disappointing,” Brown said.It's going to get worse before it gets better.That's because Brown is going to have to shut down his indoor service for three weeks,Along with a variety of other business owners in the county.The county made the Governor’s monitoring list for three days in a row, meaning restrictions are going into effect at restaurants, tasting rooms, breweries, entertainment centers, zoos, theaters and card rooms for the next three weeks.“I say we are going back instead of forward,” said Patrizia Branchi, who owns Operacaffe downtown.Branchi said business has really suffered during the pandemic - with sales down to 35 percent.These new restrictions still allow her to serve customers outside - but with social distancing rules, her patio only holds six people.“I don’t want to think about closing because to me that means my family is going to have a problem,” Branchi said. “I have me and my daughter, and the other partner, which is with us since ever.
