KOHLER, Wis. – Two major golf tournaments have been postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.The PGA announced Wednesday that the Ryder Cup has been rescheduled for September 21-26, 2021 at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. It was originally scheduled for September 22-27 of this year.The Ryder Cup is a biennial men's golf competition between teams from Europe and the U.S., which began in 1927.Likewise, the Presidents Cup, initially slated for September 30-October 3, 2021, at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina, will now be played September 19-25, 2022.The decision to reschedule the Ryder Cup was based on guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and in conjunction with the state and local health officials.“Unlike other major sporting events that are played in existing stadiums, we had to make a decision now about building facilities to host the 2020 Ryder Cup at Whistling Straits,” said PGA of America CEO Seth Waugh. “It became clear that as of today, our medical experts and the public authorities in Wisconsin could not give us certainty that conducting an event responsibly with thousands of spectators in September would be possible. Given that uncertainty, we knew rescheduling was the right call. We are grateful to PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan and our partners at the TOUR for their flexibility and generosity in the complex task of shifting the global golf calendar.With the decision to play the Ryder Cup in 2021, all subsequent Ryder Cups after Whistling Straits will also shift to odd years: 2023/Marco Simone Golf and Country Club (Rome, Italy); 2025/Bethpage Black (Farmingdale, New York); 2027/Adare Manor (County Limerick, Ireland); 2029/Hazeltine National Golf Club (Chaska, Minnesota); 2031/Europe (to be determined); 2033/The Olympic Club (San Francisco); 2035/Europe (to be determined); 2037/Congressional Country Club (Bethesda, Maryland).Additionally, as a result of the Presidents Cup date change, the Wells Fargo Championship will be played at its traditional venue at Quail Hollow Club in 2021, at TPC Potomac in 2022 during the Presidents Cup year and will return to Quail Hollow in 2023. (KGTV) - Wineries in the East County call themselves "hidden gems," offering San Diegans a chance to get away without having to travel as far as Temecula and other more well known wine producing areas.Granite Lion Cellars in Jamul grows 17 varietals. As they shift operations outside their tasting room, they are taking advantage of being in a wilderness area with a waterfall, trails to explore and picnic tables in the shade.They are family and dog friendly, and have contracted with a number of food trucks to offer food on site, as well as outdoor tastings in a more intimate setting.Miriam Valdez, Granite Lion Cellars' tasting room manager, said, "We are used to telling people about our wines, now we actually have to limit contact." While also struggling to sell more wine, Valdez added, "We are right now maybe 60-70 days out from harvest, and our warehouse is full, so the wine has to go somewhere."Sommelier David Whited said they're offering specials on cases of wine and wine club memberships, in an effort to move inventory.They're also breaking ground on a brand new barrel cave and tasting room in the hope that one day they'll be able to move back indoors.Granite Lion has retained and retrained their staff in order to stay in compliance with all of the sanitation and safety rules.They've also donated wine to the community -- to be turned into hand sanitizer. LA JOLLA (KGTV) - A car slammed into the wall of a fire station in La Jolla on Saturday night, narrowly missing firefighters.The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. at San Diego Fire-Rescue Department’s station 9 on Ardath Lane near Torrey Pines Road. The car veered off the road and crashed into the patio wall of the station, while crews were eating dinner, according to Battalion Chief Joseph Scuri. The car missed the firefighters by about 12 feet. No one was injured.Three people were in the car at the time, but were also not injured. A natural gas line to an outdoor barbeque was hit and severed. Firefighters quickly turned off the gas to the station. SDG&E came out and repaired it. 704
