SINGAPORE, June 1 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese defense official on Saturday at the 18th Shangri-La Dialogue called for reducing and avoiding close military activities at sea that are viewed by the other side as unfriendly or even hostile.
At the upcoming Group of 20 (G20) summit scheduled for June in Osaka, Japan, China and France should push for a concerted and positive call for safeguarding multilateralism, opposing unilateralism and protectionism, maintaining the multilateral trade system with the World Trade Organization at the core, carrying forward the spirit of partnership, and promoting the balanced and inclusive development of the world economy, he said.

Japan is willing to continue to deepen exchanges and cooperation with China in political parties, localities, the Olympics, youth and other fields, and inject new impetus into the improvement and development of bilateral relations, the Japanese side added.
"Both sides agreed that it's very important to maintain a stable Sino-U.S. military relationship," Wu said. "The two militaries should implement the consensus reached between the two heads of states, deepen exchanges and cooperation, contain divergence and risks, so as to make the relationship the stabilizer of bilateral relations," he elaborated.
At the award ceremony on Wednesday, Anita Kiki Gebe, deputy joint special representative of the United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), spoke highly of the devotion of the Chinese helicopter unit to the peace and stability of Sudan.
